Part of Chanel’s Fall 2010 collection, the Enigma quad (£35) contains neutral-cool tones perfect for a smokey look.
It contains a very sheer pink with peach and gold shimmer; cool brown with a touch of olive (contains micro glitter), deep cool dusty slightly sparkly plum and a slightly mauve grey ( contains micro glitter)
Although the shadows apply smooth and blend well I do find them quite powdery. As a result of this once I have blended, the micro glitter is barely visible and the colours less vibrant/complex so I have to press the shadows on if I want them to appear like they do in the pan. I felt that the grey and brown didn't show up as distinctly different colours once applied and kind of meld into one another. I do really like the finished look but have to work with it, nice to have but not one of my must haves.
Thank you so much for posting this! I haven't had chance to look at any of the collection in person yet. You have further convinced me that I don't need this. I'm still going to have a look at the singles (and the liner) but if they are pretty but nothing special it'll certainly help with the Guerlain situation! ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not surprised. I've had Chanel eyeshadows before and was never super impressed with them... but I'm getting this one anyway, just because it's Chanel and I feel like it! I'm terrible, I collect everything...
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your observations about the powdery-ness of this quad- I'm probably going to keep resisting it. I'll probably just get more Burberry shadows instead-lol ;O)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane,
ReplyDeleteI got the Vert Khaki single as well as it looks a lot nicer in the pan than it does on! I'll try and get that review up at the weekend x
Hi Cafe Bellini,
I know what you mean about collecting things, I tend to go through brand phases where I have to have nearly everything from a certain one :)
Hi Jv,
I like your thinking, Burberry would be a better option, I bought three more of their shadows, I'll post about them tommorow.
So the Vert Khaki is one to swerve too? Oh dear! Good news for the Guerlain fund I guess. Talking of which, the date you were told was right. I got an email yesterday finally from Guerlain and they said 4th Sept. It's disappointing and I suppose I should learn not to trust the SAs on release dates! x
ReplyDeleteIts a bit murky, I'll take a pic of it on as well and you will see what I mean.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think the Guerlain SA must have thought me a bit strange as I asked where the fall collection was in a slightly panicked voice! I was hoping it would be here sooner really as the longer I wait the more I want! x
I look forward to seeing your post. You're doing an excellent job of saving me money ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the Guerlain error. I hope you told the SA some hairy biker from the internet mis-informed you! I really was hounding everyone for official information. I should've been more patient.
New follower. If you get a chance, please check out my dare you to wear challenge. I am challenging my subscribers to recreate a look from the derek lam fashion show (pics on my blog). I will be doing an updated post showing what everyone came up with.
ReplyDeleteI am also currently having my August giveaway.

The Fall quad is really beautiful though I think the quality of Chanel baked eyeshadows is not that outstanding.
ReplyDeleteThanks for swatching!
I am glad I found your blog and I am following it now.

Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteLOL, hairy biker! Saving you money, I'll have to try and rectify that ;)
Hello Funnyfacebeauty,
Sounds interesting, I'll make sure to check out your blog :)
Hello Catanya,
Thanks, I think you are right about the quality, it just doesn't really compare to my other brands.
