By Terry Ombre Blackstar: Blond Opal

Whilst there are a lot of twist up, cream eyeshadow sticks on the market, I have not found any to measure up to the By Terry Ombre Blackstar.
The pigmentation is impressive and with a base they last all day with not a hint of fading.

Blond Opal (£27.50) is a shimmery, slightly warm creamy vanilla.
Swatched on the left, and blended on the right:

One of the major attributes of the Ombre Blackstar's for me is how well they work mixed with a powder shadow or layered (there is no balling up of product).
Pictured below is Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird on the left and then on the right I have added some Blond Opal to it. Here is how they look once applied:
I also recommend these for more mature skin (my family member who wears these is in her 60's) as they give extremely good coverage and apply really smooth.

Ingredients:

I bought this from spacenk.co.uk

  2. I am absolutely in love with how it looks with Abyssinian Catbird! Apparently SpaceNK are doing free delivery at the moment. Not that I'm looking at buying eyeshadow, of course ;)

  3. PS. I just followed a link to this site - http://www.slowfashionhouse.com/#!beauty as they sell Kjaer Weis and apparently ship Europe-wide (they've disappeared from SpaceNK). I spotted some new KA colours. Lots of other lovely looking skincare-y things in their beauty department too..... *le sigh*!!

    1. Hi Jane,
Free delivery and a new site to peruse, your just trying to make me spend all my money aren't you ;)
I was very miffed that Kjaer Weis just went from spaceNK, you'd think they could have put it in the sale at least, how rude.. ;) xx

  4. I saw these recently and found them really nice...until I saw that they're made in Italy, so a light bulb came on in my head! I think they may well be the same as the eyeshadow sticks from a mid-range Italian beauty brand which sells them for a sweeter price (I think they are the actual company that make these!). How do they compare to Laura Mercier sticks? I suspect they too come from the same company....bet you're curious now! By the way, I really like the sticks from that mid-range brand....:) And your look with Abyssinian Catbird is epic! xxx

    1. Anna, I spot the 'made in Italy' labels a lot and I've commented before on the fact that all the baked eyeshadows hail from the same factory in Italy. I think they make goods and then offer them up to various companies. It's possible that they differ the formulas slightly but who knows...

    2. Hi Anna,
I'm glad you like the look, as I thought it rather splodged on, it really is great mixing it with other shades, creates some nice colours.
I do prefer the formula to the LM overall.
I have heard that before about a company making the same products but selling for different brands, like Jane says below it is a bit of a "who knows" though I have to say that I have not come across two products from different brands that I would say are exactly the same so far

    3. Hi Jane, yes, you're right, baked shadows and shiny highlighters in general come from Italy (Cruel Gardenia, too!). Actually, about 60% of makeup on the market hails from here, which is a bit scary! I think formulations vary slightly if at all, but I carefully tend to overlook this when buying stuff from non-Italian brands, it would be such a killjoy to know that what I'm buying for 30 euros I could easily find for 7!!

    4. Ok, I know what I'll do, I'll do a comparative review on the two...although knowing me it might take ages ;) xxx

Great idea, the challenge is set ;) xxx

  5. I find the by Terry ones to be creamier and easier to blend than the Laura Mercier one I have. I overlooked this shade since it was so plain but I like the idea of wearing it with other colors.

    1. Hi Marcia,
The formula is lovely. This is a very versatile shade to have, I too did write it off at first, thinking it would just be a highlight type of shade, so I'm really glad I got it :)

  6. Your eyes are absolutely stunning, and that shade sets them off beautifully! Way to layer! I don't normally go for creams, but I just used a MUFE Aqua Cream for the first time the other day and fell in love with it. I think this might be my next foray into that texture, especially since my eyes, while not "mature" yet, are beginning to show those telltale signs of not being 20 anymore, lol.

    1. Hi Shannon,
Thank you, how nice of you to say :)
I keep meaning to get round to trying MUFE as the Aqua Creams do seem to get glowing reviews x
