Limited edition for Summer 2013, Peacock (£40) contains a mix of warm
greens and blue tones.
These are not the colours I normally
gravitate towards as they don't tend to suit me and I must confess to
buying this on a whim rather than with rational thought.
The shades have a variety of depths and vary between shimmer and satin in finish, you get a medium warm
green with strong yellow undertones; very sheer
beige with a yellow undertone (this has micro glitter), very pale
yellow green, medium cool toned silvered blue with a
hint of teal and in the centre a pale aqua
with a slight gold iridescence.
In terms of the formula, this is far from Dior at its best; the top and
bottom right shades have poor pigment and are dry in feel. The other
three shades have better colour pay off and apply quite smooth, though
its still not the creamy feel, ease of blending nor long wear you can get from a good Dior
Quint.
However, I do really like the shades and have been surprised that they
do not look garish and the overall effect is more muted, wearable
brights, though still retaining that crisp clear colour.
Though these
colours do not sit well with my colouring, (they look slightly off against my pale, very cool toned skin and blue eyes) I do
think its a shame that the overall formula is not up to par as the
combination and different nuances of the shades could have made
this a knock out palette.
I bought this from John Lewis

I really like the look of this palette and would actually still buy it if I had the money! Shame about the pay off though. I bought one of the Jelly Lip Pens and the Samba nail duo, both are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI got some of the lip pens as well, I really am liking them, I was tempted by the nail duos as well, but like you my money seems to have run out this month, good thing the Chanel collection isn't out yet ;)
DeleteI actually quite like this on you ! I am pale too but I have black hair and dark eyes . I found it totally unflattering on me :(
ReplyDeleteoh well .. more money for other items haha
Thanks :) See now I would have thought with your hair and eyes this would work better for you, these sorts of tones can really be tricky. Like you say there are always lots of other pretties to spend the money on :)
DeleteThis is so pretty and wearable on you! I`m sorry the formula's not up to scratch, but it's a pretty special thing to be able to pull off such bright colours =)
ReplyDeleteThats really nice of you to say :) though I wish I could pull it off better, I do find the older I get the less brights I can get away with.
DeleteAw the colours are pretty especially the lighter green. Too bad the colours are sheer and don't give much payoff.
ReplyDeleteYeah, its a shame about the formula, mind you I wasn't too keen on the spring collection one either so hope that's not how they will be from now on.
DeleteI need to go to a Dior counter to see all their pretties. This one look nice but it seems that some of the lighter colors could be patchy.
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia,
DeleteYes, I think you would really need to love the colours to make up for the formula not being the best. The summer collection is worth a look, I am really liking the blush/bronzer combo and the lip jelly pens ;)
