The wait is finally over as the highly anticipated makeup range from renowned make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury launched last week.
I made my selections after watching the helpful tutorials of the 10 looks, such a great idea to show the makeup in action. I think the entire collection looks very assessable and it comes across as a mistake proof line.
Here is how the packaging looks,
It has a very old time glamour, vintage look about it, I was expecting the compacts to feel heavy but they are actually quite lightweight.
I'll begin with the eyes today and review the rest of the items I bought within the next few weeks.
The Uptown Girl Luxury palette (£38) contains a very shimmery peachy gold champagne, shimmery mauve taupe, satin finish smoky mix of grey/mauve and a pink opalescence glitter shade. The glitter shade has a slightly dryer feel (typical of glitter overlay finishes) but the other shades are very smooth, soft and silky. The glitter shade adheres extremely well and you can really get a high impact look, rather than just a few sparkles here and there. They all blend beautifully, the colours work so well together and they have a good wear time (though I think a primer gets the best from them).
Its just a beautiful palette, I really like that you can wear it for a more daytime friendly look or dial it up for some drama.
There is one mascara in the range, Full Fat lashes (£22). It comes in a glossy black colour. It has a slightly dryer feel/look but not quite along the lines of a typical Lancome or YSL.
It gives a bit of lift and good length and thickness, without any flaking or smudges. Another bonus is that you can apply multiply coats without it clumping. I think this is a great overall dramatic mascara and it is one of the few mascara that I would re-buy.
Below is with one coat of mascara
Lastly I got the classic eye liner in the shade Audrey (£16). Its a deep neutral brown. I'm not typically a fan of pencil eye liners as I find them difficult to apply, however this has a really easy to work with consistency, it doesn't tug yet is not so soft that it smudges all over the place, I can get a even line with it and it has a good level of pigment. A good staple to have in your collection.

I'm extremely pleased with these, given Charlotte's knowledge/experience there was always going to be a high expectation on this range so I am glad that it doesn't disappoint.
The range is currently available from Selfridges (international shipping available), net-a-porter.com and charlottetilbury.com
I bought all these items from charlottetilbury.com
Thanks so much for your review. I am trying to resist since I know that this light shade is too shimmery (frosty?) for my taste and if I get it I will end up not wearing it but curiosity is getting the best of me and it gets harder to resist everyday, especially after reviews like yours ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Sara,
DeleteThe lighter shade is very shimmery, I bet you would really rock the golden goddess palette, I think you would really love the texture of these shadows, that's me not helping you to resist :)
xx
Hi Clare, thanks for the idea, Golden Goddess palette really is up my alley, you are right :-) I was wondering, have you seen it in person and how was the base color? Shimmery/metallic or rather satin?
DeleteHi Sara,
DeleteI've not seen in person unfortunately so was just going by what I have seen online thus far, I do think uptown girl looks like one of the more shimmery out of them all, though apart from sophiticate I thought all the base colours looked like they contain some form of shimmer. I think a lot more reviews will start turning up so perhaps hold fire until then :)
I bought the uptown girl set, too. I'm pretty much in love with everything and can't wait to order more!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat,
DeleteI am writing a big list for my next order as well, think I need at least a few more of the shadow quads, also want to try the brushes :)
Oh my god, lucky girl! You got some amazing items, but then again, this whole line is lovely, just like you mentioned! I already have a couple of items on my wishlist - currently trying to be sensible with my spending, otherwise, this line would have made me broke! Xx
ReplyDeleteHi Tina,
Deletewell I think that's my makeup budget blown for this month, I need to be more sensible :) I've got quite a few more things on my wishlist as I've not been disappointed from anything in the range that I have bought so far :)
These look very lovely, I like the colours you've picked. The eyeliner in particular looks like a really good brown.
ReplyDeleteHi Meeta,
DeleteThe liner has a really nice tone to it, deep browns can often pull red on me so this was a nice surprise, I really want to try the gel pencil liners as well, as they looked really intense in the videos
x
Hopefully, they will ship to Singapore soon.
ReplyDeleteSo want to try this line.
I would think they would start shipping internationally very soon as there certainly seems to be the demand for the line :)
DeleteThis line is intriguing. I doubt it will come to the US but I do hope they will ship here. I hope you'll have the eyeshadow crayons to review, what I've seen of those makes me want them.
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia,
DeleteI do have the crayons on my list to get :) I think there would be quite a lot from this line that you would really like, the more I am using the products the more I want to buy! :)
Beautiful haul you have there Clare. The eye shadow palette has very wearable shades and certainly looks great on you. I can't wait to see you review the other products.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jacqueline :) I am really loving this line so far x
