Burberry Beauty Spring 2013: Eye Shadow in Gold Pearl & Lip Glow in Pink Sweet Pea

The spring collection from Burberry seems to contains more brighter hues than I would normally associate with the brands image. So whilst I thought the blushes pretty I decided to settle on the one eyeshadow in the collection and the limited edition lip gloss.

The Sheer Eye Shadow in No. 26 Gold Pearl (£22.50) is a sheer very yellow toned gold with sparkle.

Unfortunately this isn't quite as smooth/buttery soft as my other Burberry shadows, and its also lower on pigment.

I have to say that I was not pleased when I saw how yellow this was in the pan as my skin is cool toned, but applied I find it doesn't work against my colouring and instead brightens my eye area very well.


Ingredients:



The pigment of the Burberry Lip Glow in No. 20 Pink Sweet Pea (£18.50) is extremely saturated. The colour is a crisp, bright, fuchsia pink shot through with a blue iridescence.
The colour applies very smooth and has an average wear, though leaves behind a lasting pink tint. I'm very fussy with the feel of glosses and do find this a bit tacky/sticky but less so that the average lip gloss.

I think these two pair well together, add some black liner and you have a nice fresh, modern look. However of the two I'd say to skip the shadow as I don't think its representative of the normal quality I would expect from Burberry.

    I really like Sweet Pea and was glad that the hint of blue iridescence isn't apparent on the lips. Along with the eyeshadows and lipsticks, the lip glows are some of my favourite things from the line. Even though they are a tiny bit sticky, I like the smoothness.

    I ended up exchanging the Gold Pearl for a different color (okay 2 diff colors! )...I just couldn't get it to work for me. Very glad you like Sweet Pea - it's so Spring-y and bright :-)

      I think it we could do exchanges here then I would have done the same, which other shadows did you pick up?
      I think Sweet Pea is the brightest gloss I have :)

    I am thinking about getting Gold Pearl, but I keep reading not-so-great reviews on it! I want a brightening eye shadow, so it does sound like this would be good. I actually like yellow - so maybe I will get it.

      I think in terms of colour and brightness then yes, but If you have other Burberry shadows then I think you'll notice the quality isn't quite as good.

      Holy smokes, you weren't kidding! I swatched this today, and it was nothing like my other Burberry shadows. I have so many Burberry e/s, so I feel like I know them well, and this one showed up in blotchy patches on my skin. What happened?! :(

    Sweet pea looks AMAZING. It's surprisingly creamy, it looks more jelly-like in the tube.

      Yes, it was a shame about the shadow, I am wondering if the texture is similar to some of the shadows in the quads that were released that some people gave negative reviews for x

    Sweet Pea looks so spring appropriate! :) I wanna get some items from Burberry Spring soon, but sadly it would only be available in Singapore on February onwards :( I want the hydrangea pink blush..

    I can safely skip the gold eye shadow I think but I can't wait to get my hands on coral pink. I really like the colours of the glosses but since I'm not a big fan of glosses I think I will be better at resisting them ( I hope lol).

      Yes, I think you are safe to skip the shadow, coral pink is very you, I'll be impressed if you can be good and just buy one thing ;)

    I bought and returned the e/s unused. A friend bought it too and wore it, while it looked pretty I just knew it wasn't a good one for me.

    Lovely description of Pink Sweet Pea!!! I love that Lip Glow and am very pleased with my purchase. I didn't get the eye shadow because I felt that I had comparable shadows in my stash. When I swatched it at the counter I found it much more favorable when applied damp. That said, I rarely bother applying shadows damp unless I am using them as one would a cake liner. I'm sorry that the shadow fell short when compared to other Burberry shadows! xo

    How does the sweet pea gloss compair to the Chanel glossmier Jalouse does anyone know? They look the same in the tube?

      Hi Nawi,
      I don't have that Chanel gloss myself but from what I have seen the Burberry seems more fuchsia and cooler in tone.
