Charlotte Tilbury Rock Chic palette

The Rock Chic palette (£38) contains all the shades you need for a smoky eye. You get a soft pearl grey, medium satin finish taupe, deep matte charcoal and a grey glitter shade.

The graduation of depth and glitter shade inclusion  means you can go for a more daytime look or full on drama.

Pigment is really good (even with the glitter shade, which doesn't have fall out issues either), they blend beautifully and wear quite well, though I do use a primer if I want them to last the whole day (shown below without a primer after about 4/5 hours wear).

Shown below with the glitter shade added on top

As soon as I bought it I wondered how close it was to the Tom Ford She Wolf trio. Similar, though not exact dupes, I've swatched them together below (CT first followed by TF).

Then a closer look at the glitter shades swatched side by side, CT on the left, TF on the right:

Though I have been moving away from greys (as I have found them not the most flattering shades against my skin tone), the quality and performance of this quad is excellent and I continue to be impressed with the Charlotte Tilbury range.

I  bought this from charlottetilbury.com

  1. These colours are gorgeous and I love the eye look, the glitter looks pretty on top. I've yet to indulge in CT although it looks like it will be hard to narrow down what to try first.

    1. Thanks Meeta :) Its definitely worth a try I think, probably good to start with the shadow quads :)

  2. These are lovely I have to admit, but I'm scared to try any of her range after the expensive disaster that was her liquid liner :(

    1. I do hate expensive disaster's and I have so many, I think you would like the blushers and the shadow quads, its a shame there are not more reviews of the range as it makes it a bit hard to choose for us ordering online.

  3. This is a pretty quad indeed! I tend to stay away from gray, because most shades in the color family look a bit weird on me. I do keep thinking I should pick something up from the CT range to try though!

    1. I kept buying grey shadows as it always seemed to be recommended for my skin tone/colouring and its only recently I have come to notice that it doesn't actually do me any favours. I think you should give the range a try, I bet you would find a shadow quad to take your fancy :)

  4. These I like! I haven't worn real grey in a long time and I think CT is coming to Canada, I'll be curious to swatch them for myself. Thank you, nice review. :)

    1. oooh thats good news if they are coming to Canada, I think you would find some items that you need to take home with you ;) I might try their concealer next as I have heard its similar to Tom fords one (which I like but its very spendy) xx

  5. They look pretty on your eye though! Lovely swacthes too. And im big fan of smokey eyes look like most of people do. But this kind of shades look like more for cool tone. Warm tone would be fit better on my asian skintone. Anyway thank you for the swacthes and review!

    1. Thank you :) it is cool toned, they do lots of more warmer toned quads, something like the Vintage Vamp quad might work really nicely for you :)

  6. Beautiful swatches and I love your eye look. I tend to stay away from greys too but recently I found some greys that actually look good on me. Stop tempting me with CT, I finally got hold of The Rebel and I'm loving it. I'm eyeing more CT. My next one is going to be either Dolce Vita of Golden Goddess.

    1. Thank you :) ooh now the rebel scared me a bit as it looks like their most intense quad, I can just imagine it looks great on your lovely eyes though, I think you can get away with more colouful shades than I can.
I do really like the CT line, I think they didn't do themselves any favours with the limited availability in other countries though
      xx

    2. Agreed with the limited availabilty, that's where Selfridges come in. I'm in love with the international shipping. Ruby aka Miaka has been getting our CT and Jo Malone fix via Selfridges.

    3. Its really good you can access these brands now, I really think Selfridges did a good move with the changes to their international shipping, I wonder if the other big department stores will follow suit.

  7. It's a nice quad! I don't often wear gray either. There is something that always looks off about it on me, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly...

    1. Its strange about the greys isn't it, I feel like grey as a whole just looks too coo toned on me, too harsh in some ways.

  8. I'm anxious to get some Charlotte Tilbury. In these pictures it looks like some beautiful browns.

  9. I have just ordered this hut I was really torn between this and the uptown girl. Do you think they are different enough to warrant both?

  10. I find them really different, this is very much your classic shades for a grey smoky eye, whereas uptown girl gives a more lighter, shimmered look with some mauve tones :)
