There is something amiss about a Tom Ford product sitting unloved in
the back of ones makeup drawer, but that is the fate that has
bestowed Indian Rose.
The pigmentation is
saturated, being pretty much opaque. Indian Rose (£36) is a medium
rosy pink with a bit of warmth, it has a satin finish.
The lipstick feels creamy but
not so much that it migrates, furthermore it has a long wear
time.
Where this falls down for me is the feel; its heavy and I find it
drying and somewhat uncomfortable, it also brings to attention every lip line I possess.
This is only my
second in the regular lip colour line up but I think of the two
Tom Ford lip formula's, the lip colour shine are much more
pleasurable to wear.
So for me if I want a pigmented lipstick I'll stick with my By
Terry Rouge Terrybly.
Ingredients below, this lipstick is scented.
I bought this from harveynichols.com

This is the MLBB colour I was thinking of getting from the TF line, but I'm thinking twice now. Do you know of a similar colour from the Rouge Terrybly?
ReplyDeleteThe only one I can think of is Flirty Rose in the By Terry line, though its a softer colour.
DeleteThat actually might work better for me. Googling photos as we speak!
DeleteI should have known it would bring me back to your blog =) you are the ByTerry expert of the interwebs!
DeleteLOL, I do think By Terry makeup coverage on blogs is a bit thin on the ground, I do have to chance it a lot when I buy the brand and so far have lucked out rather well x
DeleteI'm in love with the lipstick! I have it and I literally wear it evryday! Love your blog though!
ReplyDeleteXOXO Love from Italy
Thanks :) I do really like the colour, I might try using a balm with it to see if that helps.
DeleteI *think* I own Pink Adobe. I bought it thinking maybe the formula would be a bit nicer than Black Orchid which dries me OUT. Yeah, poor thinking. I love these colors so much. Makes me grrr that I don't love the formula as much.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the formula is drying-- that's quite a lot to spend to end up with chapped lips! :/
DeleteI know right? I'm sure it's a your-mileage-may-vary thing and plenty of people love them. But I'm kind of stupid to buy a second once when I knew the first didn't agree with me. UGH.
DeleteI've done the second time buy again many a time, you just tell yourself that this time it will be different...perhaps we are optimists ;)
DeleteIt's so pretty, but given that the formula falls short- I will pick up the By Terry Rouge Terribly that I have been wanting instead. I did pick up the TF Frantic Pink Blush, and am quite pleased with it. xoxox
ReplyDeleteYou'd probably prefer a lip shine of the two TF formulas. I'm glad you like the blush, but now you have it will you stop at just one.... ;) xx
DeleteI suspect that you are right, Replica! I am interested in Wicked, but want to swatch it again before deciding because of the price. If it is close to anything in my stash, I will probably pass. The TF Lip Shines are tempting, but I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around the idea of paying that much when By Terry, Chanel and others are so much more affordable for that type of lip product. Of course, if I swatch them and fall in love with them- who knows what will happen- LOL! xoxo
Deletelets hope you don't like the Lip Shines as there are quite a few shades by the looks of it you would probably like ;) I still need to order one of the new By Terry ones, keep changing my mind over which one to order :) xx
DeleteLet's hope!!! Such expensive taste we have!!! By Terry certainly offers a viable and more affordable alternative to TF! It is definitely a tough choice narrowing it down, but I ended up with #4 (Princess in Rose), but I think the next one will be #3 Baby Bloom. Though Nudissimo is quite lovely as well! Certainly you could go in the opposite direction and get one of the more pigmented shades. :-) xoxo
DeleteI have been surprised by the lack of hydratation of a Tom Ford lipstick for the whopping price. The colour is beautiful, though
ReplyDeleteThe high price does make the expectations higher, I'm a bit meh on all the Tom ford stuff I have bought thus far, nice but not amazing.
DeleteIts a beautiful colour but if I spend so much on a lipstick I want it to feel amazing on. I might swatch it next time I am in Selfridges but I have dry lips so not sure I should buy!
ReplyDeletewell worth swatching if you can before taking the splurge, I do prefer the By Terry, which are a little bit cheaper as well (not something I'd normally be able to say about By Terry) :)
DeleteI don't have any TF lip product yet. I want to try Spanish pink a lot but sadly it is OOS in my local counter in Singapore.
ReplyDeleteHowever I do agree with you that this lipstick is a bit on the drying side which kinda hesitates me to get this. I need to justify whether I really need this or not. Thanks for the review :)
Meryl @ memoiselle
Hi Meryl,
DeleteWhilst I am sure you will love the pigment of the TF I do think the dryness is an issue and given the price it can be hard to justify x
I think flirty rose will be better for me . I love layering they nudes under gloss , on their own they are so drying !
ReplyDeletexoxo
I do really like flirty rose, I need to get round to picking up one of their hyaluronic lipsticks :)
DeleteHey Replica, I have this too and I have to agree with you that the formula isn't all that great. I still prefer my Burberry and even Suqqu. If I wanted to splurge it would be more Suqqu instead.
ReplyDeleteI agreed, the Burberry and Suqqu perform better, I am still tempted to get some of the Suqqu lipsticks from the spring collection :)
