By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge Lipstick

I was very excited when I heard about the By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer lipstick launch, however the more reviews I read the more hesitant I became, so I decided to only order one.

The lipstick is meant to moisturise, fill in wrinkles and fine lines, boost volume, smooth and protects the lips. I bought #9 Dare to Bare (£25) which is a sheer natural rose with a gloss finish.

The texture feels extremely creamy (as you can probably note the slight smooched sides in my close-up picture below) and applies very smooth.

It was all feeling very comfortable and moisturising and then something changed. The lipstick seems to set within less than a minute, and though I do not notice any negative effect in the applied look, its the feel of it. It feels drying and a bit uncomfortable. If I were blind testing this I would say it has the feel of a long lasting lipstick, which is somewhat redundant as it still has the short wear time and sheer pigment that you would expect from a sheer/balm formula.
By Terry is one of my favourite brands so I was quite surprised that this didn't deliver. Though I like the colour, for something that is marketed as having balm like qualities, this just didn't perform for me.

Ingredients below, the lipstick is strongly scented.

I bought this from spacenk.com

  1. That is so strange that the texture is off! Any chance you got one that oxidised or something? I'm just really surprised, because I think the other ByTerry lipsticks are quite moisturising, aren't they?

    1. I think its just how they are, I don't find the Rouge Terrybly that moisturising but I would say my lips are nautrally on the dry side. I think this may rank as my first By Terry fail :(

  2. I don't like mine either. It's totally what you said...feels nice when applying but quickly sets to something that isn't moisturizing & doesn't even feel all that great on. I was really disappointed. Boo :-(

    1. Its not good is it, I didn't quite believe it at first, always something a bit sad when a fav brand disappoints x

  3. Oh no, that's too bad it didn't work out! I hate formula that apply glossy but dry down - it just feels wrong. I can understand you being disappointed in that!

  4. Thanks for your review. I tried this lipstick on the back of my hand in Space NK recently and there was something I didn't like about it....I had a feeling it wouldn't work on my dry lips. Your review has reinforced my view that I shouldn't purchase! x

  5. I am so sorry it didn't perform as expected Replica. What a bummer. I hate lipsticks that feel drying.

    1. Yes, it was a let down, I've tried using balm with it but that doesn't seem to help much either, still at least it was not too expensive.
