Charlotte Tilbury Norman Parkinson collection: Colour of Youth & Matte Revolution Miss Kensington

There has been a lot of buzz about the new limited edition Charlotte Tilbury & Norman Parkinson collection and a lot of promotional blog posts so I was interested to see if the products were as impressive as I was being told they were.

The collaboration features some of the iconic images from the legendary British fashion photographer's archive. The packaging/imagery for the collection fits in well with the somewhat vintage looking CT range.
The collection is quite small, consisting of five makeup products and two makeup bags.

The Colour of Youth (£40) is a lip/cheek cream product that's meant to impart a "delicate, rosy hue you see in young, innocent and fresh cheeks" . I think its somewhat over reaching to think I can "paint the youth back" into my skin, as the product suggests, but this does provide a healthy looking warm rose flush to the skin.

I was impressed with the performance of this both on the cheeks and lips. It has a smooth, lightweight texture that blends beautifully. It does not go on patchy or wipe your underling make off when used on cheeks (as I find a lot of cream blushers do). It feels hydrating but not greasy nor tacky and wears for around 5 hours before I notice fading.

Swatched below and then blended in,

Moving on to the Matte Revolution lipstick in shade Miss Kensington (£23), I've been interested in trying this formula as have read many good things.

The colour is the perfect combination of beige and dusty light pink. Unfortunately the formula is not for me, whilst it has great pigment, glides on and is long lasting I find it uncomfortably drying and makes the lips look very lined (even used over lip balm).

Swatched below once then three times.

Whilst I am trying to cut down on my makeup spending this year (Yes, really........) the Colour of Youth was worth the splurge and I am now eyeing up the Dreamy Glow Highlighter (though I'm unsure as to whether the peachy gold colour will be out of place on my pale skin).  As for the lipstick, if you are a fan of this matte formula then this is a lovely everyday pink nude but for me its just too uncomfortable to wear.

I bought these from http://www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/

  1. Hi dear Clare! What a shame for the lipstick, the colour is so pretty, but I know, a drying formula is terrible. The creamy pink in the jar is a very fresh colour!
Well, in the past 2 or 3 (?!) months that I didn't bought any lipsticks or eyeshadows palette (only few nail polishes) but I have a good reason! Eheh, next month for holidays I'll move back to Italy and I'll go to Livigno! There the nature is wonderful BUT also the beauty shops are wonderful and the price&products range very large...so stay tuned :)
    Kisses

    1. Hi Marghe,
How lovely to be moving back to Italy, I've not heard of Livigno, mind you I don't tend to travel much. Hope you have saved up as sounds like you will go on a big beauty spending spree :)
      xx

  2. Hey Clare, thanks for the review! It's a pity the matte lipstick doesn't work for you at all. I like how the cream blush looks, but 5 hours are kinda short when it comes to wear time so I probably don't need it! I tried CT for the first time recently, but both products I have (Golden Goddess quad and Mona Lisa cream shadow) failed to impress me. I MIGHT try something else in the future, but for the moment I am not jumping up and down to pick up anything from this collection!

    1. Yep, had the wear time been longer it would have been perfect, still I am really loving it and hope she comes out with some more shades in this formula, hopefully if they were in the normal packaging they might be a bit cheaper! I think its a brand worth keeping your eye on as I'm sure something will take your fancy and impress you. I've liked quite a bit from the brand but though I've hit pan on some of the shadows in the palettes now I won't be re-buying the ones I have.

  3. The packaging on these items is so lovely that I'm dying to try at least one or two items. Still, I wasn't sure at how impressed I was of the range of products that came with the special edition packaging. I'm glad to hear that the blusher is worth checking out

    1. It is very pretty packaging and I still might buy the highlighter, though the blush and highlighter are a bit spendy really, I was expecting them to be more around the £30 price tag. I think I am one of the few people who doesn't like the matte lip formula, annoying as its a really pretty colour.

  4. Great review. I am very pale (Armani Maestro 3). I bought the dreamy glow highlighter and, on me, it is a very sheer bronzer!

    1. Thanks :) That sounds like it would definitely be too dark for me to use as a highlighter then, thanks for letting me know. Do you still like it though, albeit as more as a bronzer?

  5. That lip/blush is gorgeous. I love the rose pink shade, it looks like it will suit you perfectly. It is a pity about the lipstick, it looks so pretty.

    1. Its lovely isn't it, I've been using it a lot, bet I'll hit pan on it at this rate.
I think for the lipstick I am going to keep trying different lip balms and hope that one will transform it :)

  6. I was looking at these on Nordstrom's site last night and wondering if they were worth the extra money. I'm not a fan of matte lipsticks in general so I'd skip that but the cream blush/lip sounds promising.

    1. I am really loving the cream blush, I don't think its a unique shade as such but I really like the formula. The highlighter has good reviews, that might worth better for your skintone than mine I think.
