Edward Bess Ultra Luminous Eyeshadows: Mirage and Storm

The newest additions to the Edward Bess shadow range, Mirage and Storm (£22 each), retain the same high quality I’d expect from the brand. They have a soft, blendable texture. The colours are buildable with a luminous/glowy finish, although both these shadows are more shimmery than previous ones.
Both shades are smooth, although I would say Storm feels slightly smoother to the touch. Used with a primer the colours last all day with absolutely no creasing or colour fade.
Storm is a cool toned, gently shimmered, delicate silver taupe
Mirage is a shimmery, soft golden peach champagne.

The packaging has been changed. The compacts are pretty much the same size but the pan is now round and they don’t contain the little sponge brush. I would say I find these a bit stiff to open.
Old and new packaging:
I think these are both stunning, I initially thought that Mirage might be too warm but the sunlight glow of the shade is really pretty. Both shades are ones I know I will get a lot of use out of.

I bought these from

  1. Very pretty! EB's 'Storm' is on my wish list for sure!

  2. Argh, just lost a comment! These are really pretty. I have my first EB eyeshadow on order but you're already tempting me with these! I'm very interested to hear you say Mirage isn't too warm as I had really dismissed it as a colour that wouldn't work for me x

  3. I need to get my hands on some of these! Very lovely, wearable shades.

  4. These are so pretty, and I like Edward Bess's simple, elegant packaging :) Storm looks more special than your average taupe xx

  5. Hey Replica,
What a coincidence, I just got Mirage yesterday!! Great minds.... ;)
I also picked up two of his powder blushes in Soft Orchid and Moroccan Rose, can't wait to start using them... :)

  6. You said the magic words "delicate silver taupe". That's enough for me to run out and grab this shade! I still haven't tried out Edward Bess yet but I hope to some day soon.

  7. So very pretty! I was awaiting your review, as I was sure you were getting these lol... They look absolutely lovely, but I'm concerned that the gorgeous Storm might just be too cool for me :(
    Have a great week hon!
    Nina x

  8. I ordered Storm a few weeks ago, and it was back ordered for the longest time, but it's finally on its way to me. For US people who have lemmings, both new shadows are in stock at Neiman Marcus, and there's a free shipping code (no minimum purchase) until 11:59 CST. Code NMFREE.

  9. Those are so beautiful! I love the taupe especially. I don't know how long I will be able to resist that one....Do you find these are the same quality as his palette shadows? I don't know what to start with. x jeanie

  10. wow storm looks amazing on you!

  11. Hi Hopelessly Devoted To Makeup,
I think it will be a hard shade for many to resist :)

    Hi Jane,
I do think you could wear Mirage, I had written it off but then when they appeared on Zuneta I had one of my moments of frivolity and I am glad I did ;) Think it goes without saying that you would like Storm x

    Hi Vintage Makeup,
They are very easy to wear shades ;)

    Hi Makeup Magpie,
I really like Storm and I don't think I have another taupe thats like it x

    Hi Lakshmi,
Great minds indeed ;) I do really like the look of his powder blushers I had a feeling though that there was something in the ingredients that wasn't great for those acne prone, I'll have to re-check that though! x

    Hi Kristie,
I think if you are a taupe lover then you do need Storm ;)

    Hi Nina,
You know me too well! Storm is cool toned but I think the colour is delicate enough that you could work it x

    Hi Zuzu's Petals,
I hope you like it when you get it, its always annoying having to wait for makeup ;)

    Hi Jeanie,
I would say the palette has a slightly different feel/finish to it compared to the singles, I think singles are the best way to start x

    Hi luv2smilexo,
Although its lighter than I thought it would be going by the name, it is lovely and I can see it being a very popular choice :)
