Laura Mericer Under Eye Perfecter

I’ve always had dark undereye circles that have worsened with age, coupled with the added bonus of dryness and puffiness I have never found the perfect eye concealer.
The Laura Mericer Under Eye Perfecter intrigued me, its marketed as “a unique cream designed to help conceal, awaken and provide complete coverage for even the most intense dark eye area”.
I had not seen any reviews of the product when I bought this, but this did not stop me ordering it online having never seen it (you’ll see this a common occurrence with a lot of my purchases).
It’s the same size as the secret concealer and the colour is a pigmented warm peachy rose. The texture is smooth and not overly creamy so it doesn’t go into any lines. To say I had my doubts is an understatement; as soon as I opened it I questioned my motivation for buying something called Mauve/Rose, in fact if I had to describe the worse sort of colour to exacerbate the darkness under my eyes this would probably be spot on.
So for your viewing delight I have taken a sequences of pictures for you, the first picture is with nothing on, the second with the eye Perfecter on one eye, the third with it blended in a bit and then the fourth picture with a normal coloured concealer placed over the top of both eye areas.
I would like to say at this point that it was not my intention to scare you and I do apologies if you have nightmares tonight of many eyes staring at you!
Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Not much difference? Honestly I’m not really seeing an improvement; I’ve had this product for a while now and have tried putting on a tiny amount as well but still nothing. If you have this and I’m applying it incorrectly please let me know, otherwise I’m going to concede that this is a dud for me.

  1. Hmmm....it's not easy to see how this colour is supposed to work. From your pictures of it on and blended in it certainly adds colour but nothing lends itself to neutralising darkness. It's very strange. I think this is a dud and I would be very tempted to feedback to Laura Mercier.

However, I do really want to know which concealer you have on in the final picture. That looks the biz!

  2. Im guessing you would have to be olive skinned or yellow toned (or yellow undereyed lol) to make this one work!
Hmmm a toughie.. i dont see how that shade is supposed to help. Wish you could take it back and get something else!! xx

  3. I think since it's a pinkish colour, it's supposed to neutralise blue or green undertones, which are often the undertones of people's undereye circles. But seeing as yours are quite pink, I would assume that you would need something greenish instead, to counteract the pink. Hope that helps.

  6. Hi Jane,
I did wonder to contact LM to ask if there was some magical technique but seems their contact stuff is US only.
I wearing my By Terry concealer in the last one, really like it but need something with more coverage.

    Hello Tali,
Me too, I'd be interested to know if this shade does work for anyone, it would probably look better on the lips :)

    Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for that, that does make sense, I've never thought to use a green corrector under my eyes and thinking about it Armani make one....

    Hi Em,
Thanks ;) I just need more coverage really, I'm sure my circles always look worse because my skin is so light.

    Welcome back Anna!!
have missed you, seems a long time, I can't wait to hear about what you bought. Thanks for the kind comment I just use a MAC 224 to blend it in x

  7. Yep, I agree with Em and Anna.
And I might be in the minority here, but I think that the eye with the LM product on looks perhaps slightly more "evenly" smooth. Although, it kind of defeats the purpose as you wanted something with more coverage, not to simply add a step to your routine...
Oh, and rest assured that I will sleep like a baby tonight :-)))

PS Re green concealer, try (if possible) before you buy. I have battled redness all my life and have very rarely had success with green. It's rather tricky and if the consistency isn't JUST right it can have a very weird effect...I personally find yellow to give a better result if matched correctly.

  8. Hi Nina,
Thanks, I guess it might abit, although I wonder if that eye was better than the other eye to start with? Your spot on with it adding another step to my routine, I think it may have to go in the bin!
Thanks for the concealer tip, wouldn't want to look odd, best I stick to more yellow toned ones for eye areas x

  10. Oh please don't bin it, I'd love to try it out if it's just going to end up in the bin otherwise!

As for the Green or Yellow correctors, Armani do both those shades and I can personally recommend them. They're amazing and last absolutely ages.

As daft as it may sound, just to test out which colour improves your undereye area the most, you could try a matt pale green or yellow eyeshadow? Just to see the effect the colour has.

  11. Hi Naz,

Thanks, I might look into the Armani yellow one, that eyeshadow test sounds good, although don't think I have a yellow shadow :)
I think I may give it another try but if its no good will let you know.

  12. I honestly adore the Armani correctors, they're fab. Do let us know how you get on with it if you try it out! I don't have the green or yellow anymore (apricot is best for my skin) otherwise I would have sent you a sample or something.

That's really sweet of you, thank you. Definately have a play around with it, I'm sure there is some way you could make it work! If not, let me know and I'm sure there is something I could get my hands on for you =)

  13. wow, I don't know why you can't see it, but I see a huge improvement! the last photo, the eye with the Laura Mercier corrector has absolutely NO dark circle! your skin looks like it is the same even color everywhere. it looks perfect - in fact, when I run out of Bobbi Brown corrector I am getting this LM one. take a look at the photos again dear, the difference is there :)

  14. Hi Ashley,
Thanks,I'm still not seeing it :) I wonder if the eye I used the LM on was not as bad as the other eye to begin with ? If you do get it please let me know as I'll be interested to know if it works for you x
