Edward Bess Soft Smoke Eyeshadow Trio

I can’t think of a better name for this trio as a soft smoky eye is exactly what you get.
It contains a pale off white base/highlight shade, a medium grey and a deep charcoal. The white and charcoal look almost matte however there is a faint shimmer to the grey.
I have read a few reviews that don’t think the quality of the trios matches that of the single shades, however whilst I would say its perhaps not as pigmented in one stroke as the two singles I have there are no negatives I can report.
The colours although basic are effortless. I find a lot of sets geared towards a smoky eye are usually too harsh and the colours too conflicting, however these colours just meld into each over, allowing for a simple but effective graduation.
This trio costs £44 and I bought it from Zuneta.com who stock the brand exclusively for us in the UK (they also ship worldwide)

  3. Looks great indeed, will have to hold off ordering Ed Bess stuff till I get back home at the end of August, but I tell you, my hands are itching to whip out that credit card (though I'm sure the credit card is itching to stay well inside my wallet!!) Will have to get some recommendations from you before making that order though...xx

  5. I love this trio, the grey looks ordinary but applies quite unique. The SA at the Edward Bess counter at Bergdorf Goodman, wowed me by doing a gorgeous smokey eye with this trio in 2 minutes flat!! I already had on a soft brown smokey eye but she added the grey in the crease, the black in the outer V and to deepen the crease and the white on the brow bone and on the lid to blend things out. I really liked the effect and I was surprised by her placing the grey in the crease, I would have put it on the lid or the outer half of the lid. Anyway there are innumerable ways in which you can use this palette, alone or paired with other shades in your collection.

  6. Hello Lakshmi,
Thanks for that, I was using the grey on the lid so I will have to try the look the SA used on you. I wonder if there are any plans to bring out more of these palettes or expand on the single eyeshadows as it is a very small range at the moment x

  7. Hi Replica! I don't know about new shadow singles or trios but I do know he's coming out with a new mascara formula with rubber bristles. Have you tried his satin compact foundation? I quite like the finish of it, but don't use it right now in the winter with my super dry skin, somehow cream formulas always seem to accentuate flakiness with me.

  8. Hi Lakshmi,
The mascara sounds interesting, I know his present ones doesn't seem to get as many raves as his other products.
I've not tried the satin Compact Foundation as I assume it would be too dark for me, shame I can't see it in person really! x
