Chanel L'Ame d'un Regard collection: Ombres Essentielle single eyeshadow in Fauve and Twilight

The L’Ame d’un Regard is a mini collection recently released, at the moment I think its only available in Europe. The collection consists of Les 4 Ombres #29 Lagons (blue tones), Stylo Yeux in Marine and Espresso, new eyebrow pencils, the new mascara Sublime de Chanel and the two single shadows I picked up.
Fauve is a mauve silvered taupe with micro glitter.
Twilight is a sheer candyfloss pink with micro glitter (£19.92 each).

Both shadows, albeit most noticeable with Twilight, have a slightly more powdery/dryer feel and are not as smooth as the majority of other Ombres Essentielle’s I have bought. This may well be due to the micro glitter.
Although Twilight is a shade I should have passed on, I think if you are a fellow taupe lover you will find it hard to pass up Fauve. Even though its not the best texture, I think its a really pretty colour.
Picture below is Twilight as a wash with Fauve applied over it.

I bought these from John Lewis

  2. I love Fauve. I'm sad that I can't get it in the US.

  3. I LOVE the look you have on, that is the most ingenious way to wear pink: by tauping it up!! ;) I must admit back when I first started buying makeup I got a MAC eyeshadow called Da Bling-- partly for the name, it is like this color, very pink and candy like. It has been languishing in my drawer, maybe I'll take it out and try using it sometime! Thanks for the idea!
Besides the pink, the Fauve looks so pretty, great staple to have in your collection! Bet it'll look great with Taupe Grise
I tried the summer Bronze Corail bronzer today, I really like it, even though the colors look a bit dark in the pan, when swirled together it's a very pretty glowy look. I'm sure you'll be able to use the Rose one as a blush if not as a bronzer...

  4. Very pretty combination!
Fauve is gorgeous but I agree with your comments on its texture. I'm trying it out over a number of other (cream or powder) bases and, although I haven't found the winning combo yet, it seems to be layering very well with pretty much anything.

  5. Hi Vintage Makeup,
Thanks ;) I do have a thing about taupes!

    Hi Angela,
I do wonder if you will end up getting it there, just at a later date?

    Hi Lakshmi,
Thanks, glad you like :) Pink is never good on me, I just don't learn.
I am going to have to get the rose bronzer aren't I, I've been meaning to get a fan brush for a while so it might be a good time as it will probably make the bronzer easier for me to wear. Well I think I have my Chanel summer list ready now, thanks for your advise x

    Hi Nina,
Thank you. It is a pretty shade, typical that they now have a 10% off at John Lewis this weekend on makeup, perhaps I could pick up another Coco shine... x

  6. I tested out Fauve today and it is super-pretty, I didn't realise it has some really interesting tones in the micro glitter.

  7. Oh dear, I'm so torn. The colour Fauve is so me yet I'm not sure I would enjoy the texture. I may need it though, just for taupe reference ;)

I love how you applied the two colour. Your 'finish' line at the outer corners is amazing. Defined without being blunt.

  8. Hi Meeta,
It is a lovely shade, you know I was wondering if it was limited edtion or not, I didn't think to ask the SA.

    Hi Jane,
Thank you so much ;) I think its worth you having a feel of it in real life to see if you can get on with the texture as I do think you will really like the shade x

  9. I went and had a look today and as soon as I touched it I knew it was going to be a no, no. It has quite a gritty texture and was very different to the darker brown which felt velvety. It's a shame as I love the colour.

I did do some buying though of course ;). I finally picked up the Chromatics palette (I waivered between 6 and 3 but went with 3 in the end) and also the waterproof pencil in the purple. I actually think I might go back and get some of their normal pencils. I swatched them first, like a wally, but really fell for a couple of the colours. Have you ever tried them?

Disappointingly I couldn't find the Dior Addict I wanted. I fancied 714 New York but was told it didn't exist. I need to investigate this as I'm sure I saw it in Karla's swatches. I liked how they felt as I swatched though. Anyway, that's enough rambling from me. I hope you've had a lovely bank holiday xx

  10. Very pretty look - I must try combining taupe & pink! Fauve looks especially nice. That's too bad about the texture...I don't understand why so many lines are using so much micro-glitter. xx

  11. Fauve looks SO pretty!!!
May have to pass on it though, as I trust your opinion and Jane's!
Especially since Chanel eyeshadows are pretty expensive for the quantity!

  12. Hi Jane,
It is a shame that the texture is not as per the normal singles. Still, I like that you dealt with the disappointment by buying other makeup ;)
I'll look forward to hearing how you like the YSL. I've not tried their normal liners, wasn't sure if they were being replaced by the newer ones we got?
How annoying about the Dior, I do know that our normal line up is not the same as America, some of their limited certian store only shades are actually in our main line up over here, its the same for the Chanel coco shines, we have 3 shades here of which 2 I think are store only in america and 1 of them is not out there till July, I don't get why it can't just be the same for all really.
Easter it going ok, my chocolate consumption has been somewhat impressive!! x

    Hi Makeup Magpie,
Thank you! Your right a lot of lines are going down the micro glitter route, I'm not really a fan of glitter x

    Hi Tina,
It is a shade thats best to try being buying, I just couldn't resist another taupe ;) I know what you mean for the price you expect a certain quality.

  14. Hi Hopelessly Devoted To Makeup,
I'm not sure if I have seen a date for it, I don't really get why there is such a varient between countries, I'm sure we have a coco rouge shine that came out with the main collection that America is not getting until July for some strange reason.
