RMS Beauty 'Un' Cover-Up

The second product I bought from the organic, mineral brand RMS Beauty, is the 'Un' Cover-Up concealer. It comes in 3 shades and I went for the lightest one, shade No.11 (£28).
The colour is slightly too dark for my face and under eye area and has quite a strong yellow undertone.
The texture is really good, extremely easy to apply and blend and when used on the face it makes the area look smoother.
It lasts well and the finish is very natural. Its not drying, so does not emphasis lines, nor does it cake.
The coverage is light to medium so if like me you have a very discoloured under eye area and acne scarring this is not going to provide you with enough coverage.
To show you the coverage, the eye on the left of your screen has nothing on, the eye on the right has Un Cover up only (I didn't use an eye cream underneath it).
Unfortunately I have to concede that this does not work with my acne prone skin and I do get congestion from this, so I can only use it for my under eye area now.
Swatched on the left, blended in on the right:
I think for dry skin types that are not acne prone this would be a great product if you don’t require heavy coverage but want something that will make you skin look more healthy and radiant.

Ingredients: *Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol (non-GMO), *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, and may contain: [+/- Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499]

I bought this from cultbeauty.co.uk

  1. 11 is a perfect match for me; I did wonder if it might be a bit dark for you. I hope Ms Swift expands the colour range in this product - it only goes from reasonably fair to moderately tanned in the current three shades.

I love this for everyday - it's enough to knock back my dark circles, but doesn't look heavy or cakey.

  2. It is a shame about the congestion as the texture seems rather nice. On another note I am looking forward to seeing the colours available in the new YSL Touche Eclat when they are released. Also I like the eyeshadow you have on!

  3. I was just about to say that it sounds like 11 would probably be ok for me before I read Grace's comment. I think the coverage looks like it would be good for me as an all rounder. Maybe not enough on it's own for the dark circles but I like the fact that it's not cakey. It's a real shame about the congestion. I suspect that it's the oils and beeswax that mean it's just not 'breathable' enough on your sensitive skin.

  5. Oh I'm sorry about that! It's such a shame, as it sounds like a good product. I agree though that the coverage isn't amazing...
    Have a great week hon!

  6. I have this in the same shade (I believe) and it works nicely for me when I remember to use it! I am SO lazy when it comes to under eye concealer (and I need to be religious) because mine are getting worse as time goes on.

It's a nice lightweight formula. Grace turned me on to it and now thanks to you I'm getting it out and going to try and be faithful again!

  7. Hi,
I am also very acne prone, and finding concealers and foundations that don't make things worse is very difficult. I know the causes of acne are very individual, but I was wondering:
1.) do you know what ingredients cause problems for you at all?
2.) what concealers and/or foundations *have* worked for you - giving good coverage etc. but also not causing you to break out, even if worn for a few days in a row?

Sorry to be asking these difficult questions!

  8. Hi Grace,
It would be good if they expanded the shade range. I do really like the texture of this, shame my circles are too hard core for it :)

    Hi Meeta,
Do you know when they are releasing the new shades? I do wonder about going back to YSL as I did use to quite like it for a lighter concealer/highlighter over the top of a heavy concealer.
Glad you like the shadow, its one from Rituals, I'll try and do a post on it x

    Hi Jane,
I did wonder if the oils would be problematic for me. I think you would like this, you don't need coverage like I do so I think you could use this all over, sheered out x

    Hi Vintage Makeup,
Concealers don't fare well with my circles, think its because I have a lot of red and purple on such light skin.

    Hi Nina,
I'm going to have a try of that Dior one you were suggesting, I bought the newer Bobbi Brown one recently and really don't like it, I hate to think how many eye concealers I have tried! x

    Hi Jeanie,
It really is a lovely product, such a shame it doesn't suit me, I think I might give this to my mother as she doesn't have bad circles nor breaks out. x

    Hi Ann,
Lots of things cause me problems unfortunately, my number one is Salt, things like Isopropyl Isostearate and Isopropyl Myristate I usually avoid and I have worked out recently that sweet almond oil causes me problems as well.
This is a good site to use as a reference for ingredients that maybe problematic

In terms of foundations/concealers that don't cause me problems, the ones I would feel most happy to recommend for someone with acne would be MAC Pro longwear foundation and for concealer Edward Bess Platinum concealer and Illamasqua concealer.

  9. Oh dear, another trip to Boots and I saw the eyeshadows you were talking of. Gorgeous! So gorgeous in fact, that I walked out with no90 Fauve, a stunning silvery-taupe with the loveliest shimmer! And, since after all I was at the counter, I also got another coco Shine, Biarritz, slightly bronzey-beigy-corally shade...(sigh)

  11. Hi Nina,
I picked up Fauve (and Twilight) as well! Once again our resolve is outstanding ;)
Biarritz sounds a nice summer shade. x

    Hello Ammie,
I do wonder that its more suited to those with warmer tones.

  12. Hi Replica

I saw a post from Musings of a makeup artist:
    http://musingsofamakeupartist.blogspot.com/2011/04/ysl-touche-eclat-cult-classic-reborn.html

That said the dates for launch are 19th May (Selfrdiges exclusive) and 4th August nationwide.
