Sue Devitt Solomon Islands Collection

Its all very dingy and cold here in the UK, so what better than to bring out a bit of summer time colour. The Solomon Islands Collection (£35) is based on pinks, corals and bronzes.

Here's a run down of what you get and my thoughts:
Destination Eye & Cheek Palette in Solomon Islands: This features warm coral pinks, an icy pink and a copper/bronze. It has quite a sheen to it but I don't think it highlights pores. The texture is smooth, soft, lightweight and long lasting. You can get a variety of tones depending on how you mix the colours.

Microquatic Blue Anti-Aging SPF 30 Protection Primer - 10ml: This is not drying or heavy like a lot of primers, it lessons the look of pores and prolongs the wear of my makeup. If I do wear it too many days in a row I get some congestion (this might well be the algae) but otherwise the texture and effects are really good.

The Powder Brush is made from pony hair. It feels soft and picks up product well. It also retains its shape perfectly after every wash. The precise size it great for blush and powder application on targeted areas.

The Eye Intensifier Pencil in Gold Reef is a deep brown with a hint of bronze and subtle golden shimmer, it feels smooth and quite creamy.

The Lash Intensifier Lengthening Mascara Separates lashes really well and lengthens without clumping, it also doesn't smudge nor flake.
Finally the Lip Enhancing Gloss in Coral Sands, adds a sheer coral shine to the lips and I don't find it sticky or overly tacky.

Swatched below is the gloss, eye pencil, then from the palette the cool pink, copper/bronze and then all the shades mixed together.

In the look below I used gold reef as a base with a bit of the bronze from the Eye & Cheek Palette on top and the pinks from the same palette mixed together and applied softly in the crease. I don't think the pinks work for me on the eyes (but I love them on the cheeks)  but I wanted to show you as many of the colours together in one look (I have also used the mascara).

Overall the colours are cheerful and create a healthy look. Its a really great value set as it contains two full size products (the eye & cheek palette is worth £31 and the eye intensifier pencil £18).

Sue Devitt Day and Night Neutrals Eye, Lip and Cheek Palette

The limited edition Day and Night palette (£38.50) is an easy to wear palette of fresh, pretty shades that are coordinated extremely well.
The sleek silver palette consists of two blushes, three shadows and three lip glosses. It also contains two small brushes (one is double sided).

The blushes are very pigmented and I have to be very careful with application on my pale skin. They feel quite smooth, perhaps a tad dry and have a satin finish.
Pale Peach is a brightening peach and Evening Rose is a dusky rose.

The shadows have good pigment, feel really smooth and blend very well. All the shadows are shimmery.
It contains a delicate seashell pink, golden chocolate brown and a golden champagne.
Blush and shadows swatched below:
The glosses have a slightly tacky feel to them and are not long wearing. The colours are extremely pretty, though subtle.
The shades are nude pink, brown rose and a warm rose.
I think this is an extremely well thought out palette which will appeal to many. The quality is very good and it requires no thought to be able to get a pretty everyday look.

Sue Devitt: Eye focus

Finally I got round to buying some Sue Devitt. I played safe and went for two natural looking eyeshadows.
Nordland is a smoky deep taupe purple, it has a satin finish base and tiny micro glitter.
Lonely Splendor is a slightly warm taupe, it has a satin finish (shadows are £14.50 each).
Ingredients:
The eyeshadows feel smooth although I wouldn't say they have that creamy, soft texture like brands such as Rouge Bunny Rouge. They have a good level of pigmentation and application colour is reflective of how they look in the pan. They blend nicely and I noticed they had little fall out compare to a lot of other brands. Worn with a base these last all day. These colours aren't necessarily going to set your world on fire but they are great basics that you'll no doubt find yourself reaching for often.
The next two products are part of a GWP ( currently still available from lookfantastic its worth £32.50 but is free when you buy any 2 products from Sue Devitt).

Eye Intensifer Pencil in Laos (£18) is a deep bronze/brown with a slightly shimmered/metallic finish.
It has very good pigmentation, applies smoothly and is not dry nor overlay creamy. As the tip is quite large I use this as a shadow rather than a liner.
Ingredients:
Eye Rollerball Eyeshadow in Bambari (£14.50) is a very shimmery/glittery warm gold/beige.
Its a loose powder contained in a tube with a roller ball applicator. It glides on with no tugging and the colour is buidable. Its extremely easy and quick to use and I didn't experience any fall out. It does require a primer to get it to last the day.

I'm really pleased with all the items and I will be looking into getting more from the brand.
