RMK Urban Gold Fall Collection 2015

The Urban Gold Fall collection from RMK was inspired by the iconic city of New York, the collection incorporates golden accents to represent the glow of city lights across grand skyscrapers.

The whole range is beautifully coordinated and I had a really hard time trying to narrow down what to order as it all looked so tempting. I wanted to try the new Irresistible glow lipstick formula for a while as heard its similar to the Chanel Coco Shines (which I really like) so I bought Irresistible glow lips Ex-05 which is a sheer glossy peach with a golden glow.

The texture is soft and really lightweight and it just glides on. It feels hydrating and is a lot more forgiving on dry lips compared to the Chanel Rouge Coco shines.
Ingredients:

For eyes I went for the Ingenious Power Eyes N Ex-13 Copper gold, which is a shimmery golden copper. It has a lovely soft texture and applies really smooth, I like using this as a sheer wash (as shown below) or over other shades to give a warm shimmery glow.

Ingredients:

For cheeks I got Ingenious Powder Cheeks N Ex-11-Orange Beige, which is a apricot with a beautiful golden sheen.

Its a subtle colour but has a really flattering glow finish. It applies especially well, no need for blending with this beauty.
Ingredients:

Swatches (the lipstick swatches more pigmented than it applies on the lips due to its soft texture):

Normally I steer away from such warm hues but the delicate colours and faultless application makes all of these so wearable, it creates a glowing golden peach look with that bit of playfulness that RMK always inject into their collections.
RMK is a sadly under reviewed brand but its definitely a brand I would recommend trying.

Sara has a great review of the collection here

RMK Play on Pink Spring 2014: Kaleidoscope Cheek 02 Beige Pink

The first collection from RMK's new Creative Director KAORI, Play on Pink is a visually pretty collection. As per the name, variants of pink feature throughout, with the designs on the shadows, blushers and face powders depicting the play of light in the form of kaleidoscopic and prismatic patterns.

I bought one of the blushers in shade #02 Beige Pink (£20). Compact in size and with a mirror, the blush features two shades; a golden yellow (with quite a high level of micro glitter) and a sweet candy pink (with a more shimmery pearlescent finish).

Shown below with a MAC blusher to give an indication of the small size

The powder feels very smooth and lightweight and blends perfectly on the skin. Now I am not a fan of micro glitter in face products and though this is not noticeable unless you get up close, normally this would bother me, but this blush is such a breath of fresh air, I'm going to overlook it.
Swatched individually then both shades combined

The shades combined give a beautiful feminine airy peachy/beige/pink flush to the skin. Pigment is on the sheer side, but it works so well, with the combined finishes creating a pretty touch of light on the skin.

RMK Ingenious Powder Cheeks - P-10 Holographic Coral Pink

There was something immediately satisfying upon seeing the colour contained within the sleek silver compact, its just so vibrant and crisp.

Ingenious Powder Cheeks - P-10 Holographic Coral Pink (£26) is a warm pink with coral tones and a glowy/luminous finish.

Pigment is high so I apply this lightly on my pale skin. It feels very soft and smooth. I find it really adheres well to the skin (so that the colour doesn't move around when blending) and as a result has a very good wear time. Furthermore I find the included brush is soft and usable.
Swatched below on left and then blended in on right,

Swatched below L-R: By Terry Torrid Peach, RMK Coral Pink, Tom Ford Love Lust.

This is my first Ingenious Powder blush and I find it superior to the two different RMK blush formula's I had previously owned.
I don't tend to think of myself as the target market for the brand as the image seems more youthful, but I have to say I have really been enjoying my purchases so will have to investigate the line further.

RMK Ingenious Natural Eyes N - 07 Purple

With its fresh pastel colours, the RMK Ingenious Natural Eyes palette in Purple (£26.50), really says Spring to me.

As I get older my colour collection is moving very much away from brights or pastel shades so I was surprised by just how wearable this is. The palette contains a purple, baby pink, grey, and sky blue. Apart from the purple which is more of a satin finish, the other shades have a shimmered/iridescent finish.

They have a smooth texture and feel very lightweight with no fallout. The palette is quite versatile and you can either go for a brighter look or layer them to give a more dusky look.

Swatched below with the grey as a base and the purple then blue layered over the top,

I'm surprised by the lack of coverage on RMK, the brand always has an interesting array of colours, the products are of a good quality and its more accessible than some Japanese brands (such as its sister brand Suqqu).

RMK Spring Modern

The RMK spring modern collection caught my attention straight away with its crisp clean bright colours.
Eyes 05 Coral green (£25) contains a medium forest green, VERY sheer shimmery mint, sheer shimmery peach and a shimmery brown with golden shimmer. The shades have a very soft texture and wear well, be warned though that this gives a very sparkly look. I tend to wear the darker green on the lid with the lighter green dusted over it, brown in the crease and the peach lightly dusted in the inner half of the lid.
Blush 01 Pink Coral (£23) contains an orange, pink and white pink highlighter. I use all colours together and get a sheer pink peach flush (heavier on the peach), the white pink highlighter does subdue the overall effect which suits me but I think if you used just the pink and orange together you could get quite a vivid colour. Whilst not the best texture blushers I have tried I do find that RMK ones last really well.

RMK Super Liquid Basic Concealer and Irresistible Lips

RMK’s Super Liquid Basic Concealer (£19) is not an illuminating type of concealer (like YSL Touche Eclat) instead its marketed as a liquid version of their basic concealer.
The texture is quite thick and if offers medium coverage, it lasts well, although I’d say it has a slightly powdery finish so if you have a dry under eye area this may not be for you. I choose the lightest shade 01 and whilst it’s slightly too dark it is wearable but probably better for those who are a MAC NC/NW 20/25.
Swatch on the left is it blobbed on, on the right blended in
I also bought Irresistible Lips C 24: Translucent Shiny Pink (£15) .The lipstick has a very wet/slick feel to it. The colour is a beautiful glossy shimmery cool pink but the lasting power is fleeting, I would like to try one of their n range ones as those are meant to be more colour infused.
The swatch on the left is swiped a few times, on the right just once so that you can see that the colour is quite sheer as it looks quite bright in the tube.
I bought my RMK from lookfantastic.com who do ship internationally for those of you outside the UK. A lot of the things I would like to buy from RMK are unfortunately not available online, so my future purchase’s of this brand will depend on whether lookfantastic.com expands the range they offer.

RMK

RMK is a Japanese brand that offer makeup and skincare. I knew you could get it in Selfridges but only recently realised that lookfantasic.com were stocking it online. Its not a brand that initially attracted me, my first thoughts were that it was more a younger, fun brand, but I like to try new things and the Mystique palettes released for fall 2009 were what reeled me in.

I was torn on which shadow palette to get and finally settled on 01 Coral (yes, the name should have been a clue as to the palette's suitability to my cool toned skin) although I really wanted 03 Grey (this was used in the autumn promo image) but that was out of stock. I had read the shades were sheer so was not surprised that the 3 lighter shades in the palette were indeed very sheer, the darker two though were more pigmented. The colours are a mix of shimmer, peaches and coppers, texture wise these are very soft, perhaps a bit too much as they can go a bit crumbly, the darker colours (copper and warm brown) are not the best colours on me and do look off, there are very few warm shades that work on me and these I am sad to say do not!
I got cheek palette 01 pink beige, I was expecting it to be sheer so got out my trusty Illamasqua blusher brush, which could get pigment out of anything, and then looked back and admired my rather flushed dolly cheeks! So the next time I used my MAC #187 and got a nice cool toned pink shimmery glow, much better!
Swatch of all shades swirled together:
The shades are a white highlighter, very pale peach, shimmery orange followed by a shimmery pink and then a more vibrant very cool toned shimmery pink. Due to the size of each pan I don’t think you will be able to use these colours separately as cheek shades.
Swatches of individual shades:
Each of the five shades in both palettes seem to have a slightly different finish, I’ve no idea how this translates to the other shades in the normal blush and shadow range. I will say that the second lightest shade in each palette is very difficult to get any colour from and I feel almost redundant.
Both of these cost £25 each. The compacts are shiny silver plastic and have a good sized mirror but be warned they are very small (around 7cm x3.02cm). I like compact makeup so this suits me.
Lookfantasic.com ships internationally for those of you outside the UK. I did get two more things from the RMK range but the light this weekend has been terrible so I will post those separately.
Although I have a few issues with these I would like to try some more and their spring collection looks very fresh and vibrant, hopefully lookfantastic will stock a bit more of the range as its quite limited at the moment.
