Becca Pearl Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured, Rouge Bunny Rouge Swell Bliss XXX Lip Plumps, Chantecaille Le Chrome Luxe Eye Duo Monte Carlo

I often get caught up with posting about seasonal/new product releases but there are some things I have been really enjoying lately that I wanted to share with you.

Heading towards the winter season, my skin can often look dull, which is where highlighters come into their own. Though the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured came out earlier this year, we only recently got the lightest shade, Pearl, here in the UK.

I really like the formula, its lightweight and spreads and blends extremely well, under or on top of makeup. Its not so emollient that there is any greasy feel and it sets nicely with no tackiness. Pearl is a high sheen white, although it swatches quite intense it does not look stark on the skin. The wear time is fantastic, around 10 hours.

Shown below Pearl and Moonlight

Ingredients:

I am not fan of lip plumping products as I tend to find them irritating, so when I was sent some of the Rouge Bunny Rouge Swell Bliss XXX Lip Plumps I did not have high hopes, but these have been quite a surprise.
Heather Royal Jelly (Pinky Beige with micro-shimmer)

Acacia Royal Jelly (Milky Baby Pink)

Clover Royal Jelly (Pinky Rose with silver micro-shimmer)

I have the older packaging but the newer incarnation looks a bit more sleek. The glosses are super shiny and whilst there is a minty taste and a bit of tingling at first, these are not irritating in the least. The result is a really high gloss/shine finish which makes the area look more plumped. Though I do find these tacky in feel, this probably does provide the very long wear time.

L-R: Heather Royal Jelly, Acacia Royal Jelly, Clover Royal Jelly.

Chantecaille Le Chrome Luxe Eye Duo in Monte Carlo was part of the Pre-Fall collection, but seems to still be readily available. I really like the formula of the Le Chrome Luxe Eye Duos, its as smooth as you like, lightweight and applies and blends like a dream, furthermore pigment is high and the wear is long.

Monte Carlo pairs a shimmery apricot and bronze, a classic combination, perhaps a bit too warm for me complexion but it was just too lush for me to pass up.

So there we have it, 3 great products for eyes, lips and cheeks, sorted.

I bought the Chantecaille and Becca from Space NK, the RBR Lip Plumps were sent to me for free.

BECCA Ultimate Eye Colour Quad Eclipsed & Ultimate Colour Gloss Fallen Angel

As part of their fall Smoke & Grace collection (which pairs elegant smoky eyes with soft nude lips), Becca has brought out 4 eye shadow quads.

The quads contain a mix of finishes. Eclipsed (£35) contains a satin finish deep moss green, a shimmery graphite grey with a hint of khaki, a shimmery peachy gold champagne and a matte brown.

The shadows are on par with the normal singles which though not creamy, feel quite smooth have good pigment, apply true to pan and last well.

Its quite an interesting mix of shades and though I was worried they would look muddy or be too warm the colours work well together to create a soft hazy smoked look.
Ingredients:

I bought one of the Ultimate colour glosses from the collection as well. Fallen Angel (£18) is a sheer nude, it manages to avoid the concealer lip category or have any unflattering orange/yellow tones,

I really love this formula as its truly lightweight and not sticky/tacky. The best thing about it is just how moisturising it feels and though it has a short lasting time its positives more than make up for it.

If you don't usually like the feel/texture of standard glosses I thoroughly recommend trying this formula.

Becca Balearic Love: Tempranillo Nail Polish

I fall into the all too easy trap of buying on the first few days of new collection releases, but sometimes it can be a real blessing when for whatever reason I have to postpone buying. It allows me time to read the reviews and see the swatches and in the case of the Becca Balearic Love collection, though Initially I was planning to get 5 items, after seeing the reviews/pictures, it whittled down to only one item I still wanted.
Tempranillo (£12) is a deep glossy red wine with a touch of plum. The hint of plum that catches in certain lights gives it a slighter deeper more vampy edge.
The formula is free from Formaldehyde, Toluene, Camphor and Di Butyl Phthalate. This is my third Becca polish and unfortunately I am not as pleased with the application. Though it still has the fast dry time with no colour fade, I find this one applies rather streaky and uneven.

So whilst I like the colour, the application is not of equal merit.

The Highlighter battle: Becca V Rouge Bunny Rouge

I think out of all the colours for highlighters, white can often be the most problematic. Whites are prone to looking chalky, too stark/harsh and unnatural. This can also be accompanied by an overly shimmery/frosty finish.
I decided to compare the much rated Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl against my favourite liquid highlighter formula, Rouge Bunny Rouge Highlighting Liquid Seas of Illumination in shade Sea of Clouds ( a shade I'd not tried before).
As soon as I swatched these for the photos I thought the Becca would be the one to win out. Hopefully you can see below that the Becca (on the left) looks like it has a sheen, whereas the RBR is noticeably more shimmered.
Blended out a bit
Once on my face and it was a different story. The Becca does indeed give a sheen to the skin, instead of shimmer. However I find it somewhat overpowering and felt it made my skin look too slick/shiny.
The RBR by contrast imparts a slightly shimmered pearly glow and gives a touch of brightness to the skin and is definitely my favourite of the two.
Both products blend in really well and have very good wear, in terms of texture the RBR has a much lighter consistency compared to the Becca. I have not experienced breakouts from either.

The RBR sample I ordered from Zuneta, they have a fantastic sample service on their site (including foundation), this is a great way to see if the product/shade is right for you before committing to a full size . The Becca was a sample from the lovely Jane from modestybrown

BECCA Illuminate Wash

A while ago Zuneta was offering a Becca gift with purchase of the Illuminate Wash (£20). Not one able to miss out on an offer I placed my order.
Its a water based highlighter/enhancer that comes in a tube (8.5ml) with a brush tipped applicator.
Its a somewhat warm champagne, I find it similar to Armani fluid sheer in shade#2 and whilst the Becca does contain shimmer its not as noticeable on the skin as with the Armani.
Swatched below L-R: Swiped, blended in
What this product gives is a sheer luminous glow, skin instantly looks more healthy. I think this fits with the candlelight glow image. Where this excels over a lot of other highlighters is that there is no frostiness or metallic sheen.
It glides on really smooth and just blends in beautifully, there is no stickiness or tackiness to it and it lasts the whole day for me. This has become an essential product for me and I will definitely be buying this when its run out. A fabulous product which deserves some attention.

Becca Lost Weekend Part 2

The Lost Weekend palette (£35) creates a really pretty understated look with natural definition.
The palette contains:
Moleskin: delicate matte nude/stone, with a very slight mauve tone
Chino: medium matte warmed coco brown.
Moiré: delicately silver shimmered light mauve with beige tones.
Its more natural, sheer and warm compared to the Holiday 2010 Enigma palette (both swatched below to show how different they are)
The matte shades are very smooth, Moire less so because of the shimmer. They blend nicely and last all day with an eye base.
The palettes are quite slim line, yet feel sturdy, have a really good sized mirror and come with a little tapered brush that works well in the crease.

Becca Lost Weekend Part 1

The Becca fall Lost Weekend collection showcases neutral, dusty, earthy tones.
Of the three nail colours, I choose the darkest, Billy Tea (£12). I initially thought it just brown, but it definitely has a taupe vibe to it in real life. The colour is matte.
The formula is free from Formaldehyde, Toluene, Camphor and Di Butyl Phthalate. The polish dries fast and I get no colour fade or dulling of colour, although I do need to wear a top coat to prevent chipping.
Ingredients:
Beach Tint Fig (£19), is an existing shade but forms part of the Lost weekend look. This shade is described on the Zuneta site as a Tea Rose nude and that's spot on. The colour is sheer, but I do find it buildable.
What I like about these is that they do not feel drying nor are they greasy. They last very well and cause my acne prone skin no problem.
Ingredients:
Finally, here is proof of just how quick my little boy is when he sees the opportunity for some makeup grabbing! I didn't realise how close he was when I was merrily taking my photos, I did get the beach tint off him..eventually..

BECCA Mineral Powder Blush: Flowerchild

Part of the summer Halcyon Days collection, Flowerchild is one of two mineral blush releases, the other being Damselfly, which I reviewed here.
The powders feel smooth, they are very pigmented so I apply with the faintest touch. One of the great attributes of these blushers is how long they last, there is no change of colour and I get no colour fade at all.

Flowerchild is a slightly coral pink with subtle golden shimmer, the look is luminous and natural.
Swatches L-R: Flowerchild, Damselfly swiped then Flowerchild, Damselfly blended out
