Dolce & Gabbana Luminous Cheek Colour Rose

I have wanted a D&G blush for a while, unfortunately not the shades that happened to be on the Harrods site. Such was my "need" for one of these I started contemplating the shade Rose, I was very fortunate that makeup magpie helped me out by doing a really useful comparison post of the shade.

The Luminous Cheek Colour (£29) has a smooth texture, however its not got a soft/creamy feel like some brands, I'd actually say it feels on the dryer side and as a result of this I found the colour tended to grab onto my dry skin and I do have to blend more than normal. The colour is a warmed pink rose and it is very pigmented, I apply this very lightly.

The finish is not shimmery, nor does it seem completely matte, it just gives a flush with a hint of a glow. I'd say the wear is average.

Whilst I really like the shade it hasn't made me crave any more D&G blushers as I do prefer the texture/application of my By Terry and Rouge Bunny Rouge blushers. I guess this falls under the nice to have but not a must have category.

Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipstick

The newest lip formula from D&G is a lipstick/gloss hybrid. The gloss core is surrounded by the creamy lipstick.
As I was buying online haven't not seen the product I was initially drawn to my usual pinky/rose natural shades, however my lovely blogger friend Lakshmi recommended the shade #250 Desirable (£24) for me, its not a shade I would have normally gone for as it looks so very brown in the tube, however Lakshmi is always good at recommending things for me so I trusted her opinion.
This shade is stunning, whilst there is brown/nude tones there it also has a bit of rose, its just a beautiful glossy neutral with a bit of warmth and an extra shiny finish.
Its a pleasure to apply this beautifully smooth, creamy and moisturising lightweight formula.I'd say wear is average.

For me I say this is a product that does deliver what its meant to as it does give the look of a gloss with the benefits of a lipstick texture (not heavy sticky or tacky)

Dolce & Gabbana Nail Lacquer Fuchsia

The more you delve into D&G cosmetics, the more you realise that their collection contains some quite unique, vibrant colours. Their nail range seems to encapsulate many complex shades, one that caught my eye was the shade called Fuchsia (£17).
The shade is not as per the name, instead its a bright pinky coral with a high iridescence and shimmer to it.

I use 3 coats to get required coverage, dry down is average and it wears well with minimal chipping and no loss of colour vibrancy.
There is quite a lot more from the D&G cosmetic line I would like to try, I do think the brand loses potential sales in the UK having only one online distributor, further compounded by not having a lot of the shades available.

Dolce & Gabbana: Shine Lipsticks in Emotion and Soiree

The D&G Shine Lipsticks are creamy, and have a lush shimmery, high shine glossiness to them. Wear time is average. They feel light and have quite a bit of slip to them and are more moisturising than the classic cream versions.
The lipsticks have a strong rose scent.

Both shades have good pigmentation. Emotion is a mauve pink with champagne/gold shimmer.
Soiree is a stunning pink coral (£22 each)

I would be buying more of these lipsticks, but there is a problem.
My Soiree arrived off centre and smooshed and almost looked melted. I assumed it was just where it had been stored. After giving photographic evidence, a letter of explanation and a phone call to Harrods, we sent it back and managed to get a replacement.
I open the tube and all looked well, took my pictures for this blog and then I applied it, and the entire lipstick broke off from its base!
I put it back into the tube, but as its completely loose and keeps rubbing against the inside of the casing I can only use it very gingerly with a lip brush, not raised much out of the tube. I find it almost unusable, which is a shame as I adore the colour.
The texture is just too soft and although my Emotion one seems fine, I feel like I need to use it with the lightest hand for fear of the same thing happening. For the price I am just not willing to take the risk that I might have this happen for a third time.

My mother bought these for me from Harrods as a present.

Dolce & Gabbana Smooth Eye Colour Quad Nude

The Nude quad (£36.50) contains a matte warm tan, matte dusty mauve, a shimmery peach and a shimmery aubergine.
The shadows have the great smoothness and pigmentation I’d expect from D&G, apart from one. The aubergine feels somewhat grainy, it doesn’t blend well and has a lot of fall out so I can only use this wet as a liner, which is a shame as the colour looked really nice in the crease.
The combination of shades is quite interesting, the aubergine makes a great definer and the two matte shades combine for a nude no fuss look and the peach adds a bit of interest to it.
However, as I suspected this predominately warm palette is too much on my cool toned skin so I cannot wear all the shades together.
It really is a shame about the performance of the aubergine shade, however as I have a few D&G shadows now I do not think this is reflective of the brand so am hopeful its just unique to this quad.

Dolce & Gabbana Smooth Eye Colour Quad Fabulous

If I was given the choice of picking what ever eye quads I wanted from the entire D&G range I’d be hard pushed to suggest more than 2. The colours often seem too warm or feature combinations which I cannot work out how I would wear. As I have quite a lot of grey tones I decided against the Champagne quad and went for the more spring looking Fabulous.
It contains a fresh shimmery mint green, a slightly frosty pink, a shimmery smoky blue grey and a brown with very slight micro glitter which does not really translate on the skin on application.
Although initially hesitant I do think all the colours work together, the two lighter ones are a tad too frosty for me but overall I do like the whole look.
The shadows feel very creamy and blend nicely although I have to wear an eye primer to get them to last the day.

Here is a picture of the D&G mystery duo I reviewed a few weeks back, just to show you how the colours look when applied.
The quad cost £36.50 and I bought it from Harrods which I think is the only place you can get the brand from the UK.
From what I have bought so far I would say the photos on the Harrods site are realistic for the eye shadows.

Dolce and Gabbana Smooth Eye Colour Duo Mystery

Is it me or are people not really talking about D&G makeup anymore ?
I’ve only tried a few things from the line and I do like the eye shadows as they are pigmented, smooth and blend easily. What has held me back a bit is their colour selection which I find a bit odd in some cases.
Harrods (who sell the makeup exclusively in the UK) added some of the shadows from collections released this year so I picked up the Duo in Mystery and Quad in Fabulous (I’ll review this at a later date).
Mystery (£22) is a combo of a slightly shimmered lilac paired with a brown with bronze tone and very subtle sparkle. The lilac has a brightness to it and the bronze/brown is a rich colour.
I wouldn't necessarily have thought to pair these shadows together as one is cool toned the other warm, however it does work well.

Dolce and Gabbana EOTD

Its probably the norm to do an EOTD of a look you like but I am showing you one with my D&G Rose smooth eye colour Duo which I'm not keen on. If you saw my post on my D&G shadows you'll remember I was struggling to make this work and I still don't really like it.
The lighter colour looks too frosty and the pink is too light and bright and well pink..ugh! That said I do like the texture of the shadows, I think I just need to be a bit more careful with my shade choice in the future.

Dolce & Gabbana Classic lipstick

D&G offer two types of lipsticks, Classic and Shine. I bought a Classic in the shade "Soft" (£20). Obviously buying online you never quite know what colour you get and whilst I really like the shade its darker than I thought it would be. On me it applies as a medium rose with hints of a brown/berry tone and the finish is semi matte.
It initially feels creamy and light but seems to set and does feel drying, it doesn’t however make me lips look dry it just feels it. I did notice that due to its creaminess the colour seemed to migrate a bit on application, so I think with the darker shades you may need a lip liner. On the plus side I find it very long lasting, I don’t think I will get another one as I’m not keen on how it feels but I am tempted by the shine one in the shade Naked, although I hear the formula may have the same dry feel as the Classics so we will see.

Dolce & Gabbana Smooth Eye Colour Duo

When Selfridges starting selling online I was thrilled to see that they had D&G makeup on the site, having never tried the raved about range before I hastily tried to work out what I wanted, however it took me ages to decide what shadows to buy. The colours seemed too warm, too bright or not very unique. I was all set on duos in Stromboli and Fortune but at the last minute decided the lighter colour in Fortune looked a bit yellow so went with Rose….
I must confess that I really dislike gold packaging however this is the nicest gold I have seen, it a lighter hue and has no overly bright/shiny tackiness to it, I was surprised that the packaging was quite bulky though, I expected it to be a bit more sleek/compact.
On to the colours, the Stromboli is a warm champagne shimmer and medium to deep charcoal with silver sparkle. With the rose duo I was expecting a matte pinked white and golden shimmered rose, what I got is a shimmery, almost frosty white with a slight pink cast and a medium dusty pink with golden shimmer.
Unfortunately applied on my pale skin the pink goes on a lot lighter and brighter, for whatever reason there is no depth to the colour when I put it on. I don’t want to use the word hate so lets just say I strongly dislike the colour on me, I’ve tried using in on the lid, to line and in the crease and none seem to work, I think I’ll see if I can mix it with another colour or use it wet but for now I think I’ll just glare at it.
The eyeshadows are nicely pigmented, smooth, blend well and last, I do like the look of some of the spring and summer colours so may get some of those if they become available online.
A great resource for D&G makeup is http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/
The duos cost £22 each and I bought mine from Selfridges (http://www.selfridges.com/ ) I received my items the day after I placed the order even though I selected the normal shipping option so I was impressed with that.
