Snowberry Smoothing Eye Serum

After my disappointment with La Mer The Eye Balm Intense, I thought it prudent to try an eye cream from a brand that I’d had a lot of success with. The Snowberry smoothing eye serum (£47.50) contains natural peptides and herbal extracts. The cream is designed to target eye puffiness and the depth of wrinkles, and compensates for the natural loss of thymic factors.
Its an almost yellowed brown colour but the colour doesn’t show on the skin once it sinks in. It has a lightweight texture and causes me no irritation (a lot of eye creams usually sting me).
I’ve used my one up now so here are my thoughts:
After about 3 weeks I noticed that my under eye area was smoother, my bags less visible, after about a month I noticed that my discoloration was slightly lessened. However, for my very dry eye area I did not find this provided enough moisture, if I was going makeup free its not a problem but when applying eye concealer I can tell the area appears less hydrated.
Its extremely difficult to get helpful before/after pictures as the lighting always seems to differ so these maybe somewhat redundant.

After:
I'm quite torn on this as this is is the best eye cream I have ever used for bags/puffiness and I do feel like my eye area looked brighter than before, but the moisture is an issue for me. If they brought out a richer version I would grab it in a second.
I do however think I likely re-buy this as I ran out of this about 2 week ago and I am really noticing my eye bags/puffiness are worse, so although its not perfect for me this is the best eye cream I have used thus far.

Snowberry Every Day 15 SPF - Broad Spectrum

I don’t mix well with sunscreens, I have tried many from the cheap to the expensive and apart from two, they all break me out. The Everyday SPF15 (£31 for 50ml) has a creamy texture but does not feel heavy on the skin. It blends in extremely well (a lot of sunscreens just seem to sit on the skin or apply very patchy). It doesn’t feel greasy/oily and provides just enough moisture for my dry skin. I have also found this gentle enough to be used around my eye area.
I have waited quite a while to review this so that I could be sure as to whether this causes my skin a problem and I am delighted to say it does not give me breakouts or cause me any irritation. In fact my skin feels really nice after use, very soft.

Its a certified broad spectrum sun protection product (protected against both UVB and UVA light). I found the following interesting (from the Snowberry website) “you may not know that SPF15 provides about 93% protection against UVB, and surprisingly, SPF30 provides just 4% more. So, it is more in how you use your product, than its rating that is important. You should also know that ‘SPF15’ means you have protection against UVB only (the rays that cause sunburn), for 15x the burn time if you weren’t wearing a sun product. Because ‘SPF’ is not a measure of protection against the more dangerous UVA light, Snowberry’s Everyday SPF15 is also certified under the internationally recognised Boots Star system to provide good UVA protection (see the 3-Star logo on the box)"

Ingredients:
This is an outstanding all year round sunscreen, and I can not find any fault with it.

Snowberry Bright Defence Night Cream

Having been so impressed with the Bright defence Day cream, I decided to buy the night cream (£61.50 for 50ml).
The Night cream is meant to improve "night time hydration and helps to gently reduce the causes of skin discolouration in all skin types at any age".
It comes in a pump dispenser, the cream has a medium consistency and like the day cream it doesn’t absorb into the skin straight away so you do have to massage it in a bit.
I have a very bad success rate with night creams as I always seem to get congestion from them.
This cream is going firmly on my re-buy list. I get no breakouts/congestion from it. In fact I feel like this calms down irritated skin, I recently had a bad skin reaction when I was trying a different cleanser and I do feel this made a significant improvement to my sore and inflamed skin. My skin hydration has definitely been improved. What I have noticed most is how smooth this has made my skin feel and this in turn has made my foundations apply better.
Ingredients:
Another success from the luxury anti-aging skin care range from New Zealand, my expectations of Snowberry are very high now. I am also pleased to note a lot more sites are stocking this brand now ( escentual.com, lookfantastic.com).

I bought this from salonskincare.co.uk, they have free UK delivery with orders over £40 and it always arrives really quick.

Snowberry Bright Defence Day Cream No.3

Snowberry, the luxury anti-aging skin care range from New Zealand, has added a Bright defence range to their line up. It consists of three day creams (Oily, Combination and Dry skin ), a serum and night cream. The line is meant to be anti-ageing, brightening and hydrating. What interested me was the fact that the formulas are designed to gently reduce melanin production. As I have a very uneven skintone and some very bad acne scarring I was interested in this range for its claims to lighten and brighten the skin but without bleaching the skin.
I bought the Bright Defence Day Cream No.3 (£59 for 50 ML), which is designed for dry skin. It contains anti-oxidants (Vitamins A, C and E, Grapeseed, Kiwiseed, Grapefruit and Melon extracts, and the super anti-oxidant Lipochroman-6™) , rich herbal emollients (Rosehip, Grapeseed, Passion Flower and macadamia, and New Zealand Harakeke Oil) and skin brightening agents (ODA White™, Chromabright™ and Seppicalm™) which are meant to “to help inhibit tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production”.

It comes in a hygienic pump dispenser, the cream is a light to medium consistency. On initial application it doesn’t absorb into the skin straight away so I have to massage it in. For my dry skin, this is just enough moisture but I’m not sure it would be enough on its own for those with very dry skin.
I’ve been using this for over three weeks now and here is what I noticed, my skin seems to be more hydrated, my skin feels smooth, my skin looks brighter and one of my acne scars that I have had for over 6 years which no concealer could cover (even the old Dermablend formula) has lightened. Suffice to say, this is a definite re-buy for me.
Ingredients:
Snowberry is fast becoming my favourite skincare line and its one I feel I can trust, which is saying a lot due to my high sensitivities and being hugely acne prone.

Snowberry is now available on salonskincare.co.uk (which is where I bought this from). Some of their prices are cheaper compared to Harvey Nichols. They have an offer on at the moment (ending 4th April) to get £15 off if you spend £100 (code SPR15) £10 off if you spend £75 (code SPR10) and £5 off if you spend £40 (SPR5), applies on full priced items only.

Snowberry Gentle Remineralising Toner

This is my fourth item from the Snowberry range. From New Zealand, this premium anti-aging skin care range offers products that boast scientific advanced ingredients without silicones, glycols, volatile alcohols, parabens or artificial colours. I have very sensitive acne/prone skin and although I would normally avoid ingredient lists that are as long as the Snowberry's ones I have surprisingly never had any reactions/break outs from the products.
The first thing I noticed about this toner is that the formula/texture is different. Its quite thick and is not watery, its brown in colour and has quite a herbal smell. I put a bit in my hands, add a drop of water, massage onto my face then wipe off with wet pads. It could probably be used as a light cleanser as it is able to remove dirt/light makeup. Going from memory I think it cost me £48 for the 100ml size.
The toner contains Marine algae extracts and Co Enzyme Q10 that are meant to "tighten the skin, strengthen skin connective tissue, neutralise free radicals and counter inflammation and Neem and Andiroba oils that result in rapid cell rejuvenation and increase skin softness".

My skin was left feeling refreshed and felt really clean and smooth. Unfortunately after a while I noticed that this was not providing enough moisture for my dry skin. This is my only reason I wouldn't re-buy, a shame as I felt this was making a difference in the clarity of my skin tone.
Just to give you an update, I have bought the Instant deep cleanser 3 times now and it is one of my recommended products. I bought all my Snowberry online from Harvey Nichols who stock it exclusively but am sadden to see that the brand is no longer featured on their website. I really think the brand had a very promising and advanced range of products and was eager to try more so its unfortunate that its availability has been greatly diminished.

Snowberry Nourishing Exfoliator

I’ve always liked the idea of exfoliators but on my dry, sensitive, acne prone skin they usually break me out, irritate me, or dry my skin out.
This is my third Snowberry product and its better priced compared to the other two, £37 for 75ml (you can get the travel sized version at £21.50 for 15ml).
It claims to give you the following benefits:
· Immediately but gently removes dead skin cells – assisting in stimulating new cellular growth
· Immediately provides the skin with a smooth, clean and refreshed feeling
· Helps to re-hydrate the epidermis.
· Helps to maintain healthy skin ecology
· Reduces the appearance of wrinkles
· Increases moisturisation and hydration

I’ve used this no more than 2 times a week for over a month now. It’s a beige colour and has a cream consistency. Its not packed full of beads (it uses a combination of exotic oils, herbal extracts, Jojoba, precious gems, cultured coral and pearl, to remove dead skin rather than polyethylene beads) but as a result it doesn’t feel harsh.
Here are the ingredients:
It feels really moisturising without being overly oily. I remove it with wet cotton pads then rinse my face with water. My skin is not left feeling dry or coated in a film. It exfoliates well; my skin feels smooth without any redness or irritation.
For now I’ll say I’m undecided as to whether I’d buy this again. Whilst I have nothing bad to say, I’m not sure of any long-term benefits of this particular scrub in terms of increased hydration, less wrinkles, for me its main benefit is that it does not upset my skin. Ultimately I do wonder if I really need a scrub in my routine, whether it be this one or another brand.

I bought this from Harvey Nichols. Just to give you an update I have used up the Instant deep cleanser and have re bought it.

Snowberry Skincare: Nourishing Lite Day Cream

This is my second Snowberry review, this time for the lite moisturiser.
Just to re-cap Snowberry is a luxury anti-ageing skincare brand from New Zealand. The range does not contain, Lauryl Sulphates,Petrochemicals, Propylene or Butylene Glycols, Volatile alcohols, artificial colours , Silicones , DEA or MEA ingredients.

In the UK you can’t return used cosmetics, as I have highly reactive skin I felt it prudent to buy the smaller 15ml version of the moisturiser instead of the full sized 50ml (£110). Although it works out cheaper to buy the full size I figure that if I didn’t get on with it better to have wasted £46 than £110.
My skin type is dry, shiny T-zone, bad pores and sensitive/acne prone. The reason I went for the lite version of the moisturiser (rather than the rich) is that a lot of products aimed for dry skin are just too heavy for me and the rich version has algae extract in it which is something I avoid due to my acne.
This comes in a pump packaging and I use two/three pumps for my face, the consistency is quite light. I was surprised that this adsorbed almost immediately and I had no residue/oiliness on my skin at all. I’ve used this for over three weeks now and I do feel my skin texture looks better, glowier and feels smoother. The only reason this is not a re-buy for me is this does not provide enough moisture for my dry skin, if I didn’t wear foundation it would be fine but I have found it a struggle to get foundation not to look dry/patchy over this, the product is not aimed at dry skin so its my own fault, I’m going to save what I have left and use it for the summer months.

Overall I’d say if you have normal/combination skin and want a lite cream that rejuvenates the skin this might be for you.I bought one more product I'll be reviewing in a few weeks time.

I bought this from Harvey Nichols, which is the only UK stockist.

Snowberry Skincare

I first read about Snowberry on http://www.britishbeautyblogger.com/2010/01/snowberry-skincare.html
Snowberry is a new skincare brand from New Zealand. It’s a luxury, anti-aging skin care range combining nature and science (whilst a lot of the ingredients are natural substances you also get enzymes and peptides in the mix). A lot of the skincare seems to be about renewal and regeneration.
There are many things I like about the brand, they don’t seem to contain ingredients that are of no skin care benefit (such as those to make the texture fill nice) and they do not contain Lauryl Sulphates,Petrochemicals, Propylene or Butylene Glycols, Volatile alcohols, artificial colours , Silicones , DEA or MEA ingredients.
They are also carbon neutral, something I’ve not seen before.
When I emailed them about the ingredients they got back to me straightaway and were really helpful, their confidence and believe in their products only made me more eager to buy from the range.

Before I get on with my review I am going to have to mention the price, Snowberry is above my normal price range, for example the lite day cream is £110 for 50 ml. They do offer smaller sizes at a lower cost, so although it works out cheaper to buy the larger size, if you have problematic skin it might be worth buying the smaller size just in case you don’t get on with it.

My skin type is dry, with shine break through, bad pores, sensitive and hugely acne prone (yes, it doesn’t read well). Probably about 80% of skincare I have used (and I have tried a ridiculous amount of products) has not worked for me and I can only think of 2 facecare products (not including eye items) that have been a re-buy in the last 4 years.

Instant Deep Cleanser (£46 for 50 ml)
This comes in a pump packaging and dispenses with ease (you don’t get out more than your bargained for). The product is quite a bright orange and does have a smell to it (not a synthetic one), its not unpleasant but it is quite strong.
I use two pumps for my face (they say not to use it on the eyes due to all the active ingredients). The consistency is between an oil and cream.
This dissolves and removes make-up with ease and you do feel like you skin has been really deep cleansed, there is no residue left on the skin. I will say that when my skin has been really dry I have felt that I needed to put on a moisturiser afterwards, so I do think for the really cold months I’ll carry on with my Lubatti and use the Snowberry for the rest of the year.
Even given the price this is a definite re-buy for me as I have noticed an improvement in my skin, it looks clearer and the colour is better (I had a lot of redness in my skin due to past scarring from acne and microdermabrasion products).
Please click below ingredient list to enlarge:
I have some other Snowberry products that I will be reviewing in a few weeks time (I didn’t start using them all at once in case I got a reaction and I like to do skincare reviews after at least three weeks use)
I bought this from Harvey Nichols, which is the only UK stockist. At the moment Snowberry is only available in Austria, Germany, Spain, UK, Hong Kong, Ireland and New Zealand.
