The New Reformulated Dior Addict Lipsticks: Bright & True

The new Dior Addict lipstick relaunched for this Fall come in three finishes, Glow (which contains a subtle pearly shine), Flash (pure, accented colour) and Glitter (containing iridescent shimmer/glitter). I wanted to buy one from each finish but the Black Tie I wanted from the Flash finish was sold out everywhere.
The lipstick case has been updated and now has a magnet fitting so that the lipstick clicks in when sliding into the tube.

Bright #260 (from the Glitter range) is a slightly milky pale pink with a heavy does of silver micro glitter. The coolness and silver hue from the glitter doesn't really suit me but I was pleased that for a glitter finish the texture was smooth.
True #722 (from the Glow range) is a very flattering rosewood with a shine/glow finish.

The reformulated formula has a hydra-gel core throughout the length of the bullet and is meant to deliver a top coat effect for sensational mirror shine. I quite liked the previous Addicts and have to admit that the new incarnation does not seem so dissimilar. They feel lightweight and are hydrating, wear for around 3 hours and give a shiny finish. The most noticeable differences I find is that neither shade settled into lip lines (the former lighter shades of Addicts were prone to doing this) and these are not scented.

These are very nice lipsticks, though in a mass of so many good quality lipsticks on the market I don't feel that they necessarily offer anything new to the table so won't rush to buy more (unless its an unmissable shade of course...).

Dior Fall 2015 Cosmopolite Collection: Continental Rouge Dior

I picked up just one lonely item from the Fall Cosmopolite Collection, like most I tend to head towards more berry toned lipsticks come Autumn so couldn't resist the Rouge Dior in shade Continental (£26.50).

Continental is a pigmented berry red with a sheen finish. In my experience deeper Rouge Dior shades like this perform better than the lighter ones (which can often highlight dryness and sink into lip lines). Continental applies impeccably, its creamy but not overly heavy, and though I find it feels a bit clingy during wear, the finish looks smooth and not drying.

The shade has very good coverage and as it leaves a stain I get a good 6 hours wear time.
Shown below swatched once then three times

Now this isn't quite the perfect berry I was hoping for, its one of those many times that I've seen a shade looking beautiful on every other blogger but on me it doesn't quite hit the mark, its just a little too bright, lacking that bit of depth/richness, I don't have pigmented lips so whether that's the reason for the brightness, nevertheless this shade is beautiful in the bullet and though it doesn't quite correspond on me, I think I am in the minority so I'd still advise checking this out.

Dior Summer 2015 Tie Dye Collection: Dior Addict Tie Dye Lipsticks Cosmic Pink & Nude Fever

For those of a sensitive nature please be forewarned that I have committed beauty blogger sin and this post contains photos of used products.....

I held off buying anything from the Tie Dye Summer collection as I've had quite a few regret purchases from Dior so although initial reviews were good, I decided to wait before buying until more reviews came in and I had tested the products at the counter. Suffice to say that I ended up buying a lot less that I had initially wanted.

The Dior Addict lipsticks from this collection feature a new two-tone effect, the Dior "CD" logo is a contrasting colour throughout the bullet and the two shades are meant to create a subtle tie dye effect. Here in the UK we received six shades but some countries only got four (Cosmic Pink and Hypnotic Plum being the two shades not released in every country).

The formula has a creamy feel, there is quite a bit of slip and it feels lightweight and very moisturising. The colours apply smoothly and the two colours within each lipstick mix together evenly, though I don't get what this tie dye effect shenanigans is about as I'm not seeing it.
#004 Cosmic Pink is a pink shade with a touch of mauve and #006 Nude Fever is a beige nude, this is my favourite of the two as unlike a lot of nudes its not warmed toned and does not wash me out (probably as a bit of my natural lip colour seems to mix with this so its not a flat beige).

Coverage wise I'd say these are sheer to medium and lasting time isn't the best, 2/3 hours tops for Cosmic Pink (though this does leave a bit of a stain) and a fleeting 1 hour for Nude Fever.

Ingredients:

Whilst the colours aren't earth shattering, they are pretty and its a nice formula. Had Nude Fever lasted as long as Cosmic Pink I would have bought a back up as a good nude is not easy to find. As an aside I find these feel a bit more creamy than the normal Addicts and as the Addict lipstick line is being reformulated later this year it made me wonder if the Addicts in this collection are similar to the new formula coming out.

Dior Kingdom of Colours Spring 2015: Mono Shadow in Fairy Grey, Rouge Dior Baume Belle de Printemps and Cotillon

For 2015 I'd made the decision to cut down on the makeup spending, I thought I was safe when I first saw the images for the Dior Spring Kingdom of colours, which whilst pretty weren't screaming unique at me, but of course I relented.
I would like to point out that again we have a collection whereby not all items are released in every country (brands like Dior, YSL and Chanel seem to do this quite a bit). From what I can tell so far (as the collection is only out at Selfridges as I write this), in the UK we have not received the DiorBlush in Peach Splendor nor Khôl Eyeliner in #349 pearly mint but do have two new Fusion Mono Eyeshadows, the Mono shadow in Fairy Grey and an extra three Rouge Dior Baumes which certain other countries won't be receiving.

Mono shadow in Fairy Grey (£22.50), is a medium grey/silver infused with differing colour micro glitter. The glitter is what sells this shade as they provides a lovely twinkliness when they catch the light.

Pigment is a bit lacking initially but can be built up sufficiently. Glitter shades usually mean some fall out and I did get some when using a UD primer but don't if I use my By Terry one, so you may need to play around with what base you use. The shadow is lightweight and feels smooth and there are no problems with blending.

Swatched below and then a built up swatch.

Fairy Grey is a pretty shade, albeit a more flashy/shiny shade than I would normally go for, but I can't say I am a fan of the mono shadow formula, whilst it does perform sufficiently, I prefer something more creamy with a better coverage.

Of the five limited edition Rouge Dior Baume I bought #448 Belle de Printemps and #668 Cotillon (£26 each).
Belle de Printemps is the soft apricot/peachy shade used for the Ready-to-Wear S/S 2015 collection look.

Cotillon looks red in the tube but  goes on as more of a fuchsia.

Both shades go on less bright than they look in the tube. These colours are just so pretty for that pop of fresh colour.

However, though I'm a fan of the Rouge Baume formula as they provide hydration and have a lightweight, comfortable feel, I unfortunately found that Belle de Printemps does not apply as smoothly as my other Rouge Baume's and instead tends to clump and settle into lip lines.

Out of what I bought, Cotillon is the only must have for me, though I am still feeling the temptation to get the eyeshadow quints, so my plan to spend less in 2015 is going exceedingly well....

Ironically, from most of the reviews I have read so far,  it seems that the Dior Kingdom of Colors Palette which is the centrepiece of the collection has not gone down well and is one to skip.

Diorblush Starlight & Rouge Dior Baume Garden Party

Released as part of a mini collection with the new Rouge Dior Baume, Diorblush in Starlight (£30) was also used as part of the autumn-winter 2014-2015 haute couture collection (makeup done by Peter Philips).

I've not seen much coverage on this but its really not to be missed if you like a natural looking highlighter. Its a pale ivory with a very slight creamy pink tone, a change from all the golden toned highlighters that seem to be prevalent.

The powder feels smooth and has a long lasting wear. What makes this stand out from a lot of highlighters is the finish; its not frosty, nor very shimmery but more of a pearly glow. It adds that bit of brightness and natural highlight that catches the light, never looking over done. I've also been using this over blushers that apply a bit patchy or are too bright as this really works a trick to blend everything in and impart a soft diffused look.

Taking a swatch of this on my pale skin was very difficult, I've shown it next to the Chanel Camelia de Plumes Highlighting powder, on the left (which looks unnatural and over the top on my skintone) to show the difference in finish.

Whilst a lot of people favour a more heavily pigmented, high shimmered finish, I much prefer a natural looking highlighter and though I don't normally buy back ups of limited editions, I will do for this.
Ingredients:

There would be something inherently wrong for me to just pick up one item from a counter visit (it would get lonely in the bag) so I bought another Rouge Dior Baume.

I went for a slightly more intense shade this time, Garden Party (£26). Its a wearable red, you can use it lightly as more of a stain or layer to intensify, though its not one of those reds that takes over the complexion.

Swatched below with my other Rouge Baumes, L-R: Garden Party, Lili, Spring.

I like the formula of these, they are not heavy/tacky and they provide hydration and are very comfortable to wear. In these colder months I've found this formula and My Burberry lip glow balms the most forgiving for dry lips.

Dior Golden Shock Holiday 2014: Diorific Golden Shock Colour Lip Duo in Enchanting Shock

I bought just one product for this year's holiday offerings from Dior. From all the reviews I've seen, the collection seems to have been a let down for many in terms of performance.

The Golden Shock collection brings us the same gold vintage packaging we have seen before, somewhat stagnant and I would have liked to see something new.

The Diorific lipstick's this year are made up of two sides, one side is velvet matte and the other is shimmery/metallic.

The matte side is true to the normal Diorific formula, the colours are rich, offering good coverage and a long wear time. The shimmery sides are a lot lighter in pigment, with most seeming to contain a golden shimmer. They feel slightly lighter than the matte side.

I went for the second lightest shade, Enchanting Shock (£29), it contains a peach/coral and then a much sheerer golden peach.

I like the idea of having the choice of a pure colour or sheer shimmery shade or a combination of the two. However, this particular shade doesn't quite work as when the two colours are paired together the change is not that distinguishable, as you can see in my swatch below.
Swatched: Both shades separate and then combined on the right.

Perhaps its because the lighter shade is a watered down version of the saturated shade and there needs to be more contrast, but ultimately whilst its quite a nice shade its not as versatile as I had hoped.

Dior 5 Couleurs palette: Montaigne

I wasn't entirely enthralled with the reinvented/reformulated 5 Couleurs palette from Dior in Versailles, finding it too shimmery/frosty, so this time I picked up Montaigne (£42) which looked like a good mix of everyday neutrals.

It contains a satin light pinky peach with a golden sheen, matte yellow toned cream, satin medium/deep brown, satin beige/brown and in the centre a matte warm tan. The only shade I find too warm is the centre shade.

Performance wise I'm not won over by this, I have dry lids and find these shades are prone to highlighting the dryness and they don't blend as easily as I would like. There is a slight stiffness in application which results in noticeable edges rather than a soft gradient.

Shown below you can see the hard edges (I used a Mac 217 to blend). The shadows feel quite smooth and silky, with pigmentation on the subtle side. Whilst these don't crease I do find that even with a base they do fade a bit.

In terms of the finished look I think the colours are great to enhance eyes rather than providing a lot of noticeable colour. However, the blending is an issue for me, and whilst I can get cleaner edges with very careful colour build up and using a more fluffy blending brush (like the Edward Bess Luxury eye brush)  I think that for this price range I shouldn't have to go to great lengths to get the best out of the product, it should just perform well.

The New Rouge Dior Baume: Spring & Lili

The recently launched Rouge Dior Baume has 14 shades in the line up, I was surprised by just how pigmented some were for a balm style product.

The new launch also includes three lip pencils, four blushers and four nail polishes.
The idea is that the Rouge Dior Baume combines colour with a protective, nourishing lip treatment.

They do not feel heavy and glide on with no sticky feel. As they don't cling on as such but have more slip the wear time is not long.
They have the hydrating/emollient feel of a balm, leaving lips feeling smooth and soft, and work well for general dryness/roughness.
Though if your lips are in a very bad way (I've had a cold so have that lovely peeling thing going on at the moment) these don't cover up such issues so best to exfoliate first.

I didn't buy the more intense shades, I picked up #468 Spring (£26 each) which is a sheer peachy/coral

and #558 Lili which is a soft red rose, it leaves a slight stain behind once the colour has faded.

Both shades have a glow/shine finish which makes the area look plump.

I think these are a great product for the impending winter months when lips aren't in the best condition and you really need something to hydrate and protect the area.
