The slim palette has a built in mirror and the double ended brush is usable.
The palette contains: Pale Cream (matte sheer cream), Soft Buff (matte warm rose brown), Golden Bronze (metallic/sparkly gold/copper bronze), Pink Bellini (glitter peachy pink), Earth (matte warm brown) and Rich Caviar (matte deep brown/black)

My feelings on this palette are mixed, I do like the matte shades, though could have done with Pale Cream having more pigment to cancel out lid discolouration and I find Earth can look rather dry on my lid. Whereas I think Soft Buff works well as an easy neutral on the lid or crease and the pigment of Rich Caviar is extremely good. Having tried BB sparkle shades before I knew Pink Bellini would have that harder texture that requires application with a finger rather than brush and did encounter the expected fallout, however the shade itself is really pretty and does give some lift to the matte neutrals.

My main gripe with this palette is with Golden Bronze, its the stand out colour in the palette but the texture and application is a let down, pigment is very sheer and it does not apply smooth, instead having a very crumbly feel. I've had metallics from BB before and this just doesn't seem the same.

This palette does creates a natural warm daytime friendly look and the more glitter/sparkle shades can be added to give a bit more dimension, but I would strongly advise swatching this in store (unfortunately every time I went by my counter they were using this palette in makeovers so I never got the chance to swatch before buying) as the textures may make you reconsider if this should come home with you.
I bought this from bobbibrown.co.uk
Oh BB glittery shades scare me now! I have only one palette (Navy&Nude) and the one in there is practically unusable! I've swatched this one and passed since I'd just purchased another. The mattes are so pretty and that Rich Caviar, gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, you have good reason to be scared ;) I can't get what is going on with the formula of Golden Bronze, I keep trying to get it to work better, actually added some water and a bit of a eye primer with it to make a sort of paste and that made it go on better, but I'm sure there is something strange and wrong with making a paste out of one's eyeshadows... ;)
DeleteHey Clare, I am with you. BB makes some of the best matte shadows around, but the shimmery or sparkling ones often fall short. I have encountered some that simply do not want to work with me regardless of application methods! I do like how this palette looks on you though!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the look :) I don't get some of her non matte formulas either, the fall out of the more sparkly shades is really not good, I've gone through a load of contacts wearing this palette as keep getting the glitter fall out into them, ouch!
DeleteThey look like colours I would love but I keep hearing about formula inconsistencies and that keeps me from buying. To be honest, I haven't bought Bobbi Brown in the longest time. It is a pity that Golden Bronze is so lacklustre, it is the prettiest shade of the bunch.
ReplyDeleteI know, that's the shade that caught my eye so was a big let down, it is annoying about the inconsistencies and shouldn't really be the case for a brand of this pricing.
DeleteAw, I'm sorry that you never got to swatch it before buying, that sucks :-( Would you still have bought it if you had?
ReplyDeleteI really don't think I'd have bought this had I been able to swatch, especially as its not on the cheap side either, grrrr ;)
DeleteI like the look you create with the palette, it goes lovely with your eyes! I find the BB matte shadows I have bought so far quite good but the glittery ones have significant fall out :(
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Yes, I do get on better with the mattes, the fall out of the glittery shades in this is rather annoying, I think I need to be a bit more careful with my BB palette choices in future ;)
DeleteI really like the look of this but I have had a pretty poor experience with BB eyeshadows in the past. I think I am tempted to go for the new Mac cool palette over this
ReplyDeleteStacey Expat Make-Up Addict xx
I think you can give this one a miss. I really want the MAC cool palette as well, though I wish the pans were refillable.
