Chantecaille Summer 2015: Moroccan Rose and Mandarin Lip Chic

In addition to the rather lovely eyeshadow duo (reviewed here) Chantecaille released two new Lip Chics for their Summer collection.



Moroccan Rose is a pink and Mandarin is an orange (£30 each). Both shades have a brightness about them and a gloss/shine finish. Pigment is good, though I tend to wear these sheered out. Mandarin is the type of colour I normally avoid, however used lightly its surprisingly wearable, if your normally scared of orange this is a good one to try.

I initially thought Moroccan Rose might be similar to Bourbon Rose however Bourbon Rose is more of a rosy pink.

Though I tend towards more lightweight lipsticks I do really like the more balm like Lip Chic formula. It glides on, applying colour evenly without sinking into lip lines. The balm like qualities make these great for dryness and they feel super moisturising. The only aspects that I am not overly infused about is the short wear time and very slight sticky texture, thinking about it they are similar to the MAC huggables formula, though the Chantecaille definitely make my lips feel more moisturised during and after wear.

I really like both colours, they are perfect for that pop of juicy colour that enlivens your complexion, great for days you feel a bit drab.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Imperceptible Powder Evanescence plus a discount code for you

Rouge Bunny Rouge have brought out a new pressed powder called Imperceptible Powder Evanescence, its meant to be suitable for all skin types (including dry) and provide a "bare skin" finish. The formula is enriched with rose hip oil and contains an anti-wrinkle complex called D’Orientine S.


Though I need to wear powder daily as I get a lot of shine breakthrough, me and powder do not get along, however as RBR is a brand I have a very good success rate with I was keen to give this a try.

RBR very kindly sent me the powder, I selected the lightest shade Aura (there are four shades available). Aura suits my pale complexion well, there is a slight yellow tone to this that helps counteract some of my redness.

The powder has a smooth, silky texture and feels light weight. It does not blot out all shine, like something more heavy duty like MAC blot, but it prevents any more shine coming through. The powder really does lock everything in place, I notice very little change after a days wear (I tend to wear makeup from 6:00AM till 18:30PM).

The powder blends very nicely on the skin, not accentuating dryness nor fine lines and provides medium coverage with a natural you skin but better finish.

Ingredients below (the powder is free from parabens, silicones and oils). This powder is heavily scented, kind of a sweet almond smell, fragrance tends to make my skin itchy straight away but I've had no problem with this but I would have preferred fragrance to have been excluded.

For me this is a solid performer as I have not encountered any of the problems I normally get with powders (such as feeling drying, clinging onto dry patches, not preventing shine, breaking me out and not lasting).
I really like that this does not feel mask like and provides a medium coverage that minimises excess shine without obliterating everything, so that your skin still looks like skin but just on a good day.

Charlotte Tilbury Norman Parkinson collection: Colour of Youth & Matte Revolution Miss Kensington

There has been a lot of buzz about the new limited edition Charlotte Tilbury & Norman Parkinson collection and a lot of promotional blog posts so I was interested to see if the products were as impressive as I was being told they were.

The collaboration features some of the iconic images from the legendary British fashion photographer's archive. The packaging/imagery for the collection fits in well with the somewhat vintage looking CT range.
The collection is quite small, consisting of five makeup products and two makeup bags.

 
The Colour of Youth (£40) is a lip/cheek cream product that's meant to impart a "delicate, rosy hue you see in young, innocent and fresh cheeks" . I think its somewhat over reaching to think I can "paint the youth back" into my skin, as the product suggests, but this does provide a healthy looking warm rose flush to the skin.

I was impressed with the performance of this both on the cheeks and lips. It has a smooth, lightweight texture that blends beautifully. It does not go on patchy or wipe your underling make off when used on cheeks (as I find a lot of cream blushers do). It feels hydrating but not greasy nor tacky and wears for around 5 hours before I notice fading.

Moving on to the Matte Revolution lipstick in shade Miss Kensington (£23), I've been interested in trying this formula as have read many good things.


The colour is the perfect combination of beige and dusty light pink. Unfortunately the formula is not for me, whilst it has great pigment, glides on and is long lasting I find it uncomfortably drying and makes the lips look very lined (even used over lip balm).

Whilst I am trying to cut down on my makeup spending this year (Yes, really........) the Colour of Youth was worth the splurge and I am now eyeing up the Dreamy Glow Highlighter (though I'm unsure as to whether the peachy gold colour will be out of place on my pale skin).  As for the lipstick, if you are a fan of this matte formula then this is a lovely everyday pink nude but for me its just too uncomfortable to wear.

Dior Summer 2015 Tie Dye Collection: Dior Addict Tie Dye Lipsticks Cosmic Pink & Nude Fever

For those of a sensitive nature please be forewarned that I have committed beauty blogger sin and this post contains photos of used products.....

I held off buying anything from the Tie Dye Summer collection as I've had quite a few regret purchases from Dior so although initial reviews were good, I decided to wait before buying until more reviews came in and I had tested the products at the counter. Suffice to say that I ended up buying a lot less that I had initially wanted.

The Dior Addict lipsticks from this collection feature a new two-tone effect, the Dior "CD" logo is a contrasting colour throughout the bullet and the two shades are meant to create a subtle tie dye effect. Here in the UK we received six shades but some countries only got four (Cosmic Pink and Hypnotic Plum being the two shades not released in every country).

The formula has a creamy feel, there is quite a bit of slip and it feels lightweight and very moisturising. The colours apply smoothly and the two colours within each lipstick mix together evenly, though I don't get what this tie dye effect shenanigans is about as I'm not seeing it.
#004 Cosmic Pink is a pink shade with a touch of mauve and #006 Nude Fever is a beige nude, this is my favourite of the two as unlike a lot of nudes its not warmed toned and does not wash me out (probably as a bit of my natural lip colour seems to mix with this so its not a flat beige).

Coverage wise I'd say these are sheer to medium and lasting time isn't the best, 2/3 hours tops for Cosmic Pink (though this does leave a bit of a stain) and a fleeting 1 hour for Nude Fever.

Whilst the colours aren't earth shattering, they are pretty and its a nice formula. Had Nude Fever lasted as long as Cosmic Pink I would have bought a back up as a good nude is not easy to find. As an aside I find these feel a bit more creamy than the normal Addicts and as the Addict lipstick line is being reformulated later this year it made me wonder if the Addicts in this collection are similar to the new formula coming out.
