Estee Lauder Modern Mercury Fall 2011

The show piece of the Modern Mercury Fall collection has to be the Pure Colour Illuminating Powder Gelée (£28).
The colour is very shimmery and mixes champagne, gold, peach and a touch of bronze. Its very pigmented and because of the shimmer level I use this very lightly on the cheeks, on my pale skin it works as a blush and highlighter combined. It also works really well as an eyeshadow.
Swatched below L-R: swatch, blended in, used wet
Undeniably warm, but flattering nevertheless even on my cool toned skin. The texture is interesting, its meant to be a combination of liquid, powder and gel. It blends really well and is long lasting.
Ingredients:
I got the Pure Color Nail Lacquer Metallic Sage (£14) as I'd seen some lovely pictures of this applied, however it just didn't work out for me.
On me the colour is a dark dirty swampy khaki with some golden shimmer.
I find the colour quite dull but its more the formula I’m not keen on. I found it did not apply evenly and was a bit patchy, although it did wear quite well. The fumes was extremely strong during application which I found quite unpleasant.

Nail Polish Ingredients:

Lastly I got the Pure Color Eyeshadow Duo in Platinum (£22.50).
It contains a slightly shimmered white and beautiful metallic silver taupe. This is part of the permanent range of duos here in the UK. I initially dismissed it because of the white of which I have little use for, but it really is worth getting if you like cool toned taupes.
Swatched below, far right is the shades blended together.
Picture below; Powder Gelée on lid, both shades from Platinum duo blended and used lightly in the crease.

I bought all these from John Lewis.

  2. I bought the highlighting powder on Saturday and it's gorgeous! I didn't intend to buy it in the first place but the girl on the counter called me over to try the product and I loved it straight away.

I could possibly give up all my other highlighters and keep this one and be perfectly happy, hope they make it permanent.

  3. I tried to find this collection today since I was in a city an hour away that had a counter but alas it must not have arrived in Canada yet ;-(

  4. You are truly tireless :))
The highlighter is an awkward one for me, as I never use it on cheeks (it always accentuates crow's feet), but i love it on the eyes -your look is really pretty and infinitely tempting...
It's definitely one to check out in person methinks.
    Have a great week hon!

  7. Hi Dovey,
Yes, it has a sort of wave/ripple look about it, certainly makes you take notice :)

    Hi PinkSparkle84,
I can see it selling out, I wasn't planning to get it either, these things just happen don't they ;)

    Hi PerilouslyPale,
Thats so annoying when you go to get something and its not out, I must admit I have been stalking the Dior and YSL counters hoping for the fall collections to arrive, I'm sure I have been in so much I am starting to get funny looks now! :)

    Hi Nina,
LOL, I don't know what you mean ... ;) If you did buy it for use on your eyes only it sure would last you a long time, like forever! x

    Hi Elvira,
I was very tempted by the liners, might have to go back for one. I'm surprised how much I like the highlighter but it really is a delight :)

    Hello Jeanie,
Thank you :) A lot of people seem to like the polish so think its just me, I'll pop you an email xx
