Chanel Sable-Émouvant Eyeshadow Duo

The Chanel Sable-Émouvant Eyeshadow Duo (£30) was released as part of the Chanel Summer 2012 collection.

It features a sandy beige and a chocolate brown, both shades are intertwined with a fine shimmer.

Unfortunately on my cool toned skin, whilst the brown does not go on really warm/red toned, the beige goes on with a predominate warm peach tone. The only way I can wear it is by using a very cool toned all over base shadow to dilute the warmth.
Swatched below:On the far left are the shades mixed together

The shadows feel quite smooth, have very good pigment, blend easily and last well. I think the duos are easily Chanel's best shadow formula and really hope they replace the baked shadow quads we get with the duo formula.
Ingredients:

Its a classic combination of warmed shades for a natural look. Chanel seem to excel in bringing out tried and tested colours and just making them that little bit more special.
Though for me these are not the best colours for my cool toned complexion, I think if you like your warm toned everyday shades this will be a good addition to your collection.

I bought this from John Lewis

  1. This would look really lovely with a berry lip this summer. I have never tried chanel shadows but they look really soft

    1. Hi Imo,
The duos and most of the singles have a nice formula, I wouldn't say they have unique shades as such but great classic shades that you get a lot of use out of :)

  2. I bought this too just this Saturday. :) I love how pigmented and smooth it feels. I would love to see you do a look with it.

    1. Hi Jacqueline,
I really did try and take a photo of an eye look but it came out looking rather blah and not a true colour representation, I either could do with a better camera or better photo taking skills :)

  3. This is such a lovely Duo. For some reason I haven't played much with the duos. I only owned the Khaki one and didn't keep it.

    1. Hi PerilouslyPale,
When I look at the duos I see a lot of colours I already have in other brands so perhaps thats why you haven't played much? I do hope they expand the line more.

    1. Hi Lola,
I just wish the beige/peach wasn't so warm, it doesn't quite work for me, I guess I should have known going by that its a summer release and its all about the warm warm warm! :)

    2. Hi Replica, Then it most definitely won't work for me either! It is so gorgeous though. Indeed a difficult color to pull off for cool toned girls like us!

It does seem a popular choice :)

  8. Heyy! This is really a lovely duo isn't it. I was thinking that if you want to make the warm tones work on you you could try topping off the peach/beige with a neutral-cool pink like Armani ETK in #7 it looks scary in the pot but it can suprisingly cool down and "taupe-fy" muddy looking browns!! Sounds crazy but try it, and the ETK being light and airy you can go super sheer.
I found the brown really close to the Chantecaille Coral Reef palette's brown.. oh but what the hell, I need 454 brown shadows, right? Right? ;)

  9. Hi Lakshmi,
Thats an interesting idea adding a cool sheer pink to the mix, I'll have to give that a try.
I never got round to getting the Coral Reef palette so for me thats good to hear one colour is close. Yes, you do need to have that many colours that look very similar but also so very slightly different, I do that all the time :)
