Amongst the abundance of fragrance gift sets that are piled up on the store shelves (a sure sign that Christmas is soon approaching) something immediately caught my eye, at first I wondered if I was mistaken, so use was I to only ever seeing fragrance sets with an accompanying body lotions/shower gel, but what a sight to behold, a full sized makeup item paired with the fragrance, this was genius!
The Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine in 463 La Petite Robe Noire is an interesting shade, its a sheer lilac/mauve pink with golden shimmer and a high shine/gloss finish.
I really like the lightweight consistency and non sticky/tacky texture of the formula, added to which it also feels comfortable and hydrating.
I probably should mention the fragrance as well, I have to say I was not a fan of the La Petite Robe Noire Eau de Parfum which I found heavy, almost masculine with a smoky edge, The Eau de Toilette smells completely different to me. It is of course lighter as you would expect and still has the cherry note but its more of a sweet fruity-floral tone, I find it very similar to Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf.
Now of course you don't have to buy a £53 fragrance set as the gloss is in the regular line up, but certainly if you were after a new fragrance, this lovely gloss is a great incentive to go and give La Petite Robe Noire a sniff.
I bought these from John Lewis.

I saw this set and found it pretty genius as well! I have been wearing my La Petite Robe Noire EDP a lot. It's perfect for the weather! I have a little sample of the EDT that I haven't tried though. I should!
ReplyDeleteI do hope other brands follow suit, wouldn't it be great if the likes of Chanel and Dior did it!
DeleteI do hope you get on with the EDT, I think it would be quite a universal scent :)
I just received this very gloss, and find it so lovely. Fabulous review, as always Clare! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you, well of course we have to buy the same gloss, great minds :)
DeleteI really like the texture of this lipgloss as it is non sticky and the color goes very well on my skin tone :)
ReplyDeleteIts lovely isn't it, a really nice formula, there are quite a few more shades I have my eye on :)
DeleteI'm not a fan of the fragrance, but I've had my eye on this particular gloss/color for some time. I think your review has pushed me over the edge…thanks, as ever!:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, glad to push you over the edge ;) I can see why they choose the shade for the set, name aside, as I think its a suits all type of shade.
DeleteThis is a fun set! I didn't like LPN EDP much when I tried it for a week last August for review purpose but now enjoy it once in a while with the cooler temps. I'm not sure I would purchase a full size though. That gloss color is right up my alley and would probably translate into a nice nude lip on me! *sigh* :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be in trouble if other brands start doing makeup in the fragrance sets, its just too enticing ;) I can see why they choose this gloss shade as I think its a suits all :)
