The shades all have good colour payoff and its overall very warm based, containing a satin warm cream, matte warm tan/beige, warm toned shimmery copper/bronze, dark brown with a semi-matte finish and a matte cool toned greyed purple.
I have tried this palette without a primer and then with 3 different types of primers to get a good result.
Unfortunately I find the shadows powdery, with a lot of fall out during application and difficult to blend. Blending results in a patchy mess with any depth/vibrancy of colour fading into oblivion. To get a clean line with the darker shades used as a liner I have to use them wet, otherwise the line is too powdery and does not adhere well at all.
I have seen numerous good reviews for the palette and many a beautiful eye look demonstrating it so this is one of the times I've held back my review, trying the product everyday in hope I could see the beauty in this that others see, but alas its not to be. Perhaps my lids are just naturally too dry for this, but at any rate I certainly class this as one of my regret buys.

Oh my I'm so sorry it's not working for you! I just purchased it but haven't had the chance to try it yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it's similar to Mystère which works beautifully for me.

DeleteAww I'm so sorry to hear you're not a fan! For me this palette blends well, perhaps a little too well at times. Still, I'm digging the dark mattes because I don't own many mattes to begin with, and they're all colors that I used often.

I love it and wearing it today, 3rd time since i got it a week ago, so almost a record for me ;-) On me, It blends well and is not powdery on my dry lids over Nars Proprime that I use with each powder eye shadow. The only problem shade for me is the one in the middle, the shimmer of this one produces fall out on me. I tried with fingers or brush, it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteI used the Nars primer as well, which is my fail safe for shadows I am finding dry, but it was still a no go, I'm so disappointed, does seem odd that the majority of people seem to love this, I must have very difficult lids ;)
DeleteWhen I was at the counter, I could barely pick up enough pigment for it to show up on my skin. And it kicked up a massive amount of powder! I wasn't impressed enough at the counter to purchase. I'm sorry you ended up with a dud. :((

Oh no Clare! I am staying away from this palette because I really don't need anymore palettes at the moment. I'm so sorry that its a dud for you. The swatches do look so lovely though.

I wanted to love this palette. It's okay, not my favorite, in spite of my penchant for neutrals. So many others love this, but I find it so basic and dare I say, boring. I much prefer Chantecaille's Wild Horses palette for color and texture and have recommended that to friends.
ReplyDeleteThe Majority of people do seem to love this don't they. I have wondered about getting the Wild Horses palette, though wasn't sure if it would be a touch too warm for me, I might have a re-think on that ;)
DeleteIt might be too warm for you. The center shade of the Chanel palette is nearly the same as the mid-value Wild Horses palette. WH is neutral but leans slightly warm. My fair to light, cool-toned friends have worn WH with ease.

When you write something like this, it gives another perspective and is much more valuable to a reader.
